Been looking for a new prop for my old Fast Strike  150.  I currently run a 27P four blade and the bottom line is that it is too tall for this motor.  Doing the math suggest that the ideal pitch for this motor on my particular vintage Ranger would be pitched about  24 to 25.

After a year of procrastinating about this and a couple of discussions with our Charleston area Prop specialist I came away with one understanding.  DO NOT BUY A USED PROP FROM EBAY SOURCES.  He cited that most are junk and if I was smart I would leave them along..  Now here it is a year later and I have been thinking about this again.  I can buy a new Solas four blade prop at 25P with the correct hub set up for just under $300.  While that sounds like a deal, I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Solas products.  The prop I have priced is indeed a stainless steel prop in case you want to know.

The math also indicates that I should pick up about 400 additional RPMs.  Currently I can only turn on a real good day about 5300 max while the Solas will bump that up to about 5700

I have an aluminum one and like it.  Have bottomed out with it a couple times learning the lake and it is still doing well.  I would not hesitate to get another.  From the box, it seems like they use some different technology to make their aluminum props stronger than standard ones.  I can send you pic if you like

I used to see a lot of them every year at the Hillsville flea market. I've heard and read that Solas props are softer stainless steel and easier to damage, so I never looked too closely. I've bought two props on eBay, one was a great deal and the other was a fraud. eBay handled the fraud and saw to it that my money was refunded PDQ.

i run a solas s3 series on my bass cat.  i do not know about the 4 blades, but i did run either a 25 p tempest or a 25p yamaha.  i had to drop to a 23p in the solas prop.  you might need to do some research into that.  on the s3 series every where i read, they all said you would need to drop a couple of pitches from what you ran in anything else.

i friend of mine has a sabre with a 150 e-tec ho and put a solas 4 blade on his rig.  that thing is on plane before you can blink your eye.

Bo, for this model prop it is available in a 23 or a 25.  Had a long conversation with the folks at Solas the other day and we agree that the 25P is appropriate for my motor and boat hull.  Currently running a 27P that is just a bit too tall for the Fast Strike.  It works but not like I would like.

Ordered the new Solas Titan HR 4 today.  It was in stock at a dealer in Florida and will be here when I return from my upcoming trip.  Hopefully this will get me the extra rpms I am looking for.  Math indicates an improvement of about 400 rpms is likely.  Price came in at just under $300. including shipping.

thanks for the details -- they have lots of 4 blade options.  emailed them -- lets see how they respond.
