Fished Truman Friday helping a friend pre-fish a tournament. Lake level was 707.6 (normal pool 706) and falling slowly with generation from the dam almost constant. Water temps were mid 60's, water clarity 15"-20". The day topped out at 66 degrees, with scattered clouds and a solid wind from the Southwest.

We pretty much caught bass every where we went, fishing the lower Osage, lower Pomme and Hogles Creek. The fish have/have not spawned. Who knows. We were told of main-lake bluff fish that are torn up from spawning- all of our bass were pretty and thick.

The bulk of our keepers came on square bill crankbaits and a Chug Bug. I also caught them on a jerk bait, spinnerbait and a jig. They did like the windy stuff best. The flatter banks just off the 45 degree banks were best.

The bass were pretty scattered from the fronts to not quite the backs of creeks and coves. Areas with small changes in the bottom composition, secondary points and the SIDES of the secondary points were pretty consistent producers.

We never figured out any quality bass, but the keepers were fairly easy to come by. With the incoming rains for the next ten or eleven days look for the waters to begin to rise again soon. Hope this report helps someone.

Thanks for the report Dale, I love how every talks about the spawn especially when they say it's over. Like every fish in the lake spawned not he same day LOL With the weather the world is having this spring I think bass will be spawning into the summer, even down here.

Back in about '94 Truman came up a ton in early April, and stayed there the rest of the spring. They pulled water and pulled water, and the lake finally stabilized the end of June. We caught spawning bass that first week of July like you can't believe. Nature finds a way.
