Erie canal minnows species

In the canal there are these minnows that smallmouth up to 4lbs will go into piranha like feeding frenzys after and was wondering if anyone knew what type they were

The emerald shiner minnow or silverjaw minnow perhaps?

Emerald shiners. Try a Rapala Ripstop or Ripshad in Moss back shiner color. They work great in Presque Isle Bay even for largies.

Me, just googled the two common minnow types of the eerie canal, those were the first two that popped up.
