Walking a local reservoir last weekend I was stalked by a Blue Heron.  Curious if any of you have been stalked by some animal or somebody while fishing?  I finally gave this one a green sunfish and it seemed to satisfy him after following me all day.

I have been stalked by gators more times than I care to count. When that happens one can NEVER leave their guard down. They sneak up on you real fast!!

Why do you think the Gators are following you?  Think they are looking for a fish hand out or do you think they are looking to chomp on you?  I have friend that lives in Tallahassee and says they follow him in his kayak too.  He said it's usually the smaller ones.

Gators are usually just curious, until they're fed. Then they're looking for a handout.

I've been stalked by a bobcat while hunting as a teenager. I turned the tables on it. There's a reason we're at the top of the food chain, part of that's because a 12 gauge trumps claws.

That's a great question. Most of the time its for a free meal. They see me catching fish and they want one. They can become pretty insistent, and I find myself having to leave the area just to separate myself from it.

Rarely do I have an aggressive one around me, although its been known happen. Once they start posturing up, or hiss, I'm out!!

When I'm bank fishing canals, and throwing topwater across the other side of the bank,  those blueback herons can be a real PITA. They won't stop trying to eat my lure. I have to leave sometimes because they just won't quit.  ~xyz ~xyz

july starts maiting season and they can get very aggressive , had on barking at me in flordia from several hundered yards had to fire up motor to get him from following me bradenton river  12ft gater

Bigbass201

By the looks of it those gators can be a real pain.  I didn't know the heron's will try for your topwater lure.  I have those issues with seagulls on Lake Erie.  You can't throw it around without one coming in for it.  I even had one do a nose dive in the water after a suspending jerkbait.  Luckily it was too deep for it.

We have had bald eagles watch and follow us on a couple different lakes.  This started n the winter when a lot of the fish were being caught out of real deep water.  Folks would release them and the they would struggle to go back down.  Eagles would take advantage of that.  I have also caught smaller fish and whacked them on the head to stun them and tossed them out for the eagles to dive on.  In at least one case, the eagle scooped it up and flew away, then returned later to watch us.  I have also had an osprey dive on my topwater bait.

Eagles would be cool to see.

I've been stalked by tournament anglers from out state who can't find their own bass. It used to irritate me but I decided to take it in stride.  I did reach for a bass in Texas and almost lost my arm. An alligator or Crocodile came up for the bass like a submarine on emergency surface. It had a pointy nose but I've never seen a Croc up close. I was fishing somewhat brackish water.

Never seen one in person, but I think they are fairly good size if I remember correctly.

Yes, and they can be VERY aggressive, especially if they are in a group!

That has happened to me before, otter stayed right with me as I fished down a creek screaming at me and swimming all around the boat and spoiling the fishing but I did enjoy the show  ;D.

Been stalked by several big gators over the years.  Once in the dynamite hole in Lake Okeechobee before first light, the biggest gator I ever saw.  For ten minutes we played catch the surface lure, and he was relentless.  The final blow was when he surfaced 5 feet from the boat and extended his neck out of the water to get a better look in the boat.  I finally put up the white flag, and moved off into quieter waters.  Solo and a curious dinosaur are not a good combination. ~b~

Many seagulls over the years, even caught a couple, PITA to release. Was stalked by a loon one day, drifted along with me for the only straight piece of shoreline longer than 10 feet, we went together for over a 1/4 mile, I think I must have been to close to the nest.

Gators follow me outta curiosity but have never bothered me or given me any trouble. But, I've had those worthless iguanas jump in my boat though. (I HATE those stupid lizards...).
