On the water at 8 am in short sleeves and no jacket on a warm Dec. morning, air temp 68 degrees at launch and 74 later, cloudy skies all day, water temps 57-64 degrees depending on location, cooler near the river and warmer in the bayous, neap tides and river stage 6.3' at Merrill and visibility 2-3'. The bite was steady all day with all 5 of my keepers on 2 spinner baits but lots of smaller fish on t rigged worms and the spinner baits. My buddy was out as well and did very good on plastics catching some quality fish. No one particular location or type of cover for me as I got bites in most areas I fished maybe because of the cloud cover and warm temps. Rain is forecast for the next 5 days so that's it for the week for me unless we get a break in the weather.

Thanks for the report. Love hearing about the tidal fishing. ~c~ Some crazy weather swings down there...

Mike, it can be so productive one day and zero to next. Tides play a huge part but, like yesterday, with very little tide change, it wasn't a bad day like I thought it would have been, it's really unpredictable. Also I just could not make myself wear shorts on a fishing trip at the end of December although they would have been more comfortable.
