As an outdoor writer, I have the benefit of receiving various products to test, many of which are junk or something that I am not interested in. I never mention those types of products. Recently, I received a pair of Fin Nor sunglasses to test which are marketed for saltwater fishing.

A little history, I have been wearing Costas every day for my 30-year career outdoors in the bright Florida sun and stepped up to their 580 lense when it was introduced. I recently fell in love with Nines optics and have been wearing them for the last couple of years. I still have the Costa 580s and wear them from time to time. Because I worked outdoors, I recognized the need for good quality sunglasses that provide excellent protection for your eyes as well as clarity and polarization.

About 2 months ago, I received a pair of Fin Nor sunglasses. I really didn't know what to expect. Fin Nor has been in the saltwater fishing reel market for decades and they have been known as a high-end saltwater fishing company. I was a little surprised that they were entering the sunglass market which is so competitive these days.

I tried the Fin Nor Drop Down frame in the blue mirror glass lense which is an all-purpose lense that excels in offshore blue water situations. My first impression in the hand was WOW! I could feel that they were a high end and a well-made pair of sunglasses. After trying them on and wearing them for the last 2 months, I was extremely impressed. Clarity and polarization were excellent, and I didn't feel any eye strain that you would feel in other sunglasses. My eyes felt very relaxed in the bright sun. After reviewing and learning about their lense technology, they use a 7-layer coating on their lenses as well as offering polarization, blue light management, and color enhancement technology. I must say that I was surprised and very impressed with how good that they performed and felt in the bright Florida sun while saltwater fishing. I was so impressed, that I ordered a different frame and lense color (Flybridge in green mirror) for inshore fishing.

As stated before, I normally don't recommend a product unless I really like it. This one fit the bill. If you are a saltwater angler, they are worth checking out.

Thanks Flats, that is good to know.
I've had the same pair of green shades for inshore fishing for years now.  Wear them everyday I'm outside, which isn't as often now that I'm retired, but they still see a lot of use.
