Guys I hate being the bearer of bad news, but there has been a series of break in's along several of our ramps in Everglades lately.
Please be vigilant and do not leave valuables in your vehicles.

Capt. BassinLou

At least 4 trucks were broken into yesterday along 27, vehicles along the alley over the last few weeks as well.

All those parking lots and the roadway have cameras on the high poles.  They need to start monitoring for that activity, if the cameras are working.

Yes, but not on 27 they don't.

Utterly DETEST thieves... did they steal the catalytic converters too??

String em up between 2 poles- Find a nearby fireant nest- lay a trail of honey/sugar to their bodies- let nature win...

Capt. Lou thanks so much for the heads up.

It's always there along 27. The parking area for those ramps quite often doesn't have alot of traffic thus making it very susceptible to smash and grab.

I was the victim of such smash and grab 20 something years ago. My stupid had lots and lots of visible tools in my truck. They cleaned out every tool I had.

First make sure there ain't nothing in your tuck that you can't live without. And secondly make sure you can't see anything worth of value inside.

Good luck

We have had this before on 27.  That's why I stopped using those ramps.  For a little while in the 90's it was happening at 35.  Then they build the fire station.  They were stealing  tailgates back then.

The tailgates continue to be stolen. A guide had his tailgate stolen last month. An airboat trailer was also stolen last month, and God only knows what other break ins have happened that I haven't heard about. Sucks!

Wow that really does suck.

Way back i use to put in at Holiday then run up to those canals on 27. Parking seems much safer at Holiday Park. Yeah can be very busy, but I don't think there is the vandalism of vehicles at Holiday.

Makes sense. But what a pita to divert to different locations because of safety reasons. I'm so upset.

People can be such aholes. We all work hard to be able to enjoy fishing and these jerks just ruin it.

If I were a cop, I would stop all guys pulling a trailer without a boat.  Just to check registration.  When I see that I always think stolen.

I think it was Tommy that told me a bass club was having a tournament off SR 41 and they hired a armed guard to watch the vehicles.  Smart!

It surprises me that no one ever lays in wait for these thieves.

Contact the FWC and local sheriff's department. Tell them that you and your family don't feel safe at the boat ramp because of all the crime and break ins.

Back in the day, in my line of law enforcement, we used to hide out and wait for break ins at public boat ramps that were having issues. It was crazy how many drug and illegal dumping cases we would make when people thought that no one was around but that is another story..

A buddy of mine who works for my local S.O. has a dummy car that he uses in problem areas. It's set up with hidden cameras, motion detectors, and fake items worth stealing. The Sheriff's Office uses it all the time with great results.

Bottom line is to complain. It doesn't hurt to play up the "family" aspect of the situation and how you can't even spend time with your kids and family without being a victim of thefts.

Guess I am just lucky, no problems, been hitting North Sawgrass ( it is pretty good out there lately, 40 bass. 8:30 to 1).
I do see glass in the lot. An airboat captian said 3-4 weeks ago 6 vehicles got in one day.
no fish is to small to catch

Capt. BassinLou

Break in's continue.  ~xyz ~rant Stay vigilante, remember to keep valuables out of your vehicles.  :-*

I was at Sawgrass North boat ramp 4/21 and noticed someone had installed a trail camera in the big tree facing the parking lot, solar powered and cellular connectivity. Hope it works.

Even with camera(s) break-ins are still occurring at this ramp.
