Got out today for a few hours, 8 until 2, and even though the water was high and got higher it wasn't a bad day. River stage was at 22.3' which is just over flood stage coupled with a rising tide and south winds 10-15 water was well out of the banks and about 2' deep in the marsh. Cloudy early with some fog in areas but skies cleared around 9 am and tuned to a blue bird day, air temps 60 to 82, water temps 67-70 and stained to muddy. Caught a couple on a fluke early before the muddy water pushed in then hit 6 on a spinner bait around lily pads before that died. Ran to a bayou that has a few canals and boat docks and while I only caught 3, one was 2-11 and the big fish of the day, a nice 4-14 largemouth, both on a Zoom UV speed worm. Added a solid keeper on a Rapala DT 6 to finish the day. Ended the day with 6 solid keepers and the rest dinks. Love it when a big fish gets airborne 4 times, at least when fishing for fun.
Retired and loving every minute of it!
