Launched from Paige Bayou Marina at 10 am which was right at high tide and fished until 5:45 pm to fish the falling tide. Tide was very high to start aided by a strong SE wind 10-15 mph, water temps 78-80 and visibility of 2', air temps in the low to mid 80's and partly cloudy skies. Started near the marina with a fluke and caught 1 small keeper and a couple short waiting on my buddy to get home from some business he had to take care of. Picked John up around 11:30 from his dock and we headed south to scout some spots for a tourney he has this week end. Fished the main river with no luck, moved to a bayou with some deep water and he started throwing a Vudu shrimp and caught a small bass, a 17" red fish and a sheephead before hooking a red that we never saw but he had on for several minutes then I missed 3 reds before landing a legal one that was beautifully colored. Moved to another bayou and I managed a nice 2+ bass on a spinner. We decided to head north to the swamp and some cypress trees and had a blast catching multiple small fish and 5 keepers on Zoom UV speed craw and Z craw worms to end the day. Best 5 went 9.2 pounds and we had a nice afternoon on the water.
Retired and loving every minute of it!
