Smallmouth on Upper Potomac in July

I caught this 2lb 9oz smallmouth on a Whopper Plopper on upper Potomac yesterday. She hit the lure and came straight up out of the water at least 12-14", and the fight was on.

Nice smallie! Whopper Plopper's haven't been in my Smallmouth bait line-up. Maybe I should consider it.

I've caught lots of smallmouth on Whopper plopper in the smaller size. Seems to catch bigger Smallmouth when the topwater bite is on.
