Largemouth Bass will look for structure, humps, rockpiles and shade for summer locations. Bass will locate on these structures and they will tend to move shallower or deeper on them as their mood dictates. Many Bass will move into the shallows at night to feed.
In reservoirs without much current movement, stratification occurs in hot weather. lower layers of the lake can be low in dissolved oxygen. Any type of water flow no matter how little it is, can stack up Largemouth Bass. Check for schools of bass around channel dropoffs and ledges.
In reservoirs lacking current, smallmouths will often suspend over creek or river channels and keep themselves as deep as possible. Look for deep reefs or rockpiles.Smallmouth will move to the shallows at night near sharp drop offs where rockpiles are present to feed on crawfish at night.
In  reservoirs with current, main lake rockpiles and humps will hold many smallmouth during the hot days of summer. At night , they will be extremely shallow on main lake bars and stump flats subject to strong current flow.
