Yep, like when Cal and I drove to Eufala last year for the DoD last year.

Yes Sir, it's doable ~c~ if the timing is right, being still active duty that is a huge variable  :'( some of these boys out east would love a chance to fish in California and try and catch one of the western Hawgs :toot:

Calincalif50, you might add a post to the Rally Board and see what kind of interest you can get  :-*

location??? delta perhaps! aa i would be interested to here some of the possible locations, big state with a lot of excellent choices from top to bottom.

Basser56

Now that would be funny to see some people get lost on the Delta.  :roll2: ~roflmao
Clear Lake, Shasta, Casitas, Cachuma, Castaic, Oroville, take your pic.

Any of them would be fun.

Mike Cork

CalinCalif50 how long would it take you all to get to the Delta? 6-7 hours maybe?

What if we split the difference a little bit and went to San Antonio or Nacimento ;D

Was actually thinking Clear Lake, San Antonio just hasn't been much of a fishery lately since it filled up with water.

How did you go about your plans for the UBS in our neck of the woods.  I don't think this year will happen but, in 08 it would give me a year to advertise and do some of the leg work with accommodations.  I know there are plenty around Clear lake, but not much around S.A.

Casitas or Santa Margarita would be another prime lake, esp if we hold it in Mar-Apr time frame.  Any help you guys can give me on how to set things up please let me know.  Cachuma is the middle of the state so that could be another alternative, but accommodations are camping or hotel/motel in Solvang/Santa Ynez.  There is the Casino hotel, but I think that would be expensive.  Maybe they would sponsor the event????????

Cal, First we look at lodging and prioritize it, obviously you want the best accommodations for the best price. After that we look at the fisheries that those accommodations support and go from there.

Clear Lake would be awesome !!! but that is going to be a mean drive for you all, however I will be coming from Louisiana :roll2: Pushing it out that far will give me time to make it work. One thing to take into consideration is folks will want hotels or cabins and others will want campgrounds with full hook ups so something that can support both is best but if you have to spread out a little that's fine as long as it is close.

We have two different formats we run with. One is the UBCS here in Louisiana that anyone is welcome to, but we pit club against club for these and pair travelers with clubs that make it or if there is enough travelers they form there own club. The other is a Rally format where it's like a giant get together with a 2 man team tournament mixed in their somewhere.

cal, not sure how far this has gone, but have camped or fished at most places in the north, let me know what ya need and will get u the info...did read about full hookups and up here really means two places...clearlake or orville would add berryessa but higher priced. clearlake is loaded with cabins and resorts, orovile only has the state park.....let me know what ya need....jack

big mac

Lake Mendocino has large and small mouth bass and landlocked stripers. It is a bit north of San Francisco about 2 1/2 hours worth. Lake Sonoma is a bit south of that about 1 1/2 hours north of the big city and it has produced a lot of 8- 9- and 10 lbers in the past few years. Campgrounds all over mendocino and a town full of hotels right down the road. Sonoma is about 15-20 minutes from Santa Rosa along 101. Plenty of hotels there too.

........mac
Fished in all states but 11

I vote for Naci, big lake for this area, lots of spotted bass and since they all close to the same size except for the kickers it would give everyone even those not familiar with the lake a fair chance.

Mike Cork

Naci used to be known for it's small mouth populations is that not true any more?

I have only caught a handful of small mouth out of that lake.
