Ike is always in it.  He has positioned himself great for his first win this year as of right now.  Unfortunately it seems like sometimes his fishing ability and support for the sport gets overlooked by many because of his actions.  But that is a whole nother topic that has already been beaten to death. :fishy

Lets go Edwin Evers hang in there........

Speaking of always in there - KD is the man.  And, he is a good ambassador for the sport, nothing controversial and by the book.

DEL RIO, Texas — With a three-pound lead going into the final day of the Bassmaster Elite Series Battle on the Border, rookie Derek Remitz figured he needed another 30-pound limit to win the $100,000 first prize.

Derek Remitz holds the big fish, including Sunday's big bass, that won the Battle on the Border. As it turned out, Remitz didn't need that much, but he did it anyway. The 24-year-old angler from Huntsville, Ala., was the last man on the weigh-in stage Sunday. And with his five-bass, 31-pound, 6-ounce limit, he easily topped Mike Iaconelli, who finished with a total of 103 pounds, 11 ounces. Remitz final count was 111-7.

With that, the rookie withstood a final-day charge from Iaconelli, the 2006 BASS Angler of the Year, Steve Kennedy, the 2006 Toyota Rookie of the Year; and previous BASS Angler of the Year winners like Kevin VanDam (four times) and Davy Hite (twice).

"I guess this is the way you want to start," said Remitz. "I can't believe it."

Iaconelli, who had his biggest one-day total of the tournament with 27-12 Sunday, was a gracious runner-up.

"I remember my rookie year in 1999," said Iaconelli. "I won my second tournament. It meant a lot. Not only for your confidence, because when you're a rookie you're like, 'Do I really belong here.' All these guys are your heroes.

"But financially, I can remember I was still working my nine-to-five job at home (in the fishing department at a Dick's Sporting Goods store). I won that and I quit.

"Obviously, I'd like to win, but my hat's off to Derek. He had a great tournament. And, honestly, he needed it more than I do at this point, so I'm happy for him.

"I had some great areas, but it wasn't enough. I just got beat plain and simple."

Remitz had a hard time describing how he felt after a magical four days of competition on Lake Amistad, a 67,000-acre reservoir on the Texas-Mexico border that has earned its reputation as one of the best bass fisheries in the U.S. and Mexico.

"Maybe it will sink in in a couple of days," said Remitz.

I know this is old news now, but does anyone know when ESPN put this on TV or are going too. I have the DVR set for anything with BASS in the title and haven't got a hit on this yet. :-\
