wouldent that suck that they dont count that

Big J

They didn't count that bass because it was foul hooked in the belly.  So the hunt for the world record is still on.

Anybody know the story behind that fish?
the one mac weekly unknowingly snagged with a white jig that weighed 25lbs from dixon lake in ca? doug

Beagle

The one in the pic. It looks close to a WR. I see the photo shopped verrsion but it's still a big fish.

docav

it was caught last year and would be a new wr if it had not been snagged. in ca it is illegal to snag a fish even if it is a accident. he (mac weekly) said at first he was not going to submit the paper work to the igfa to be considered a new wr but in the last couple months has changed his mind. the igfa has said it would consider it for the new wr even though it was snagged because by their rules as long as it is not done on purpose it can be submitted. if you search the name "mac weekly" you will find a ton of info about the catch. the same fish was caught by jed dickerson when it weighed almost 22lbs. here is a link to the story. doug

For a good read on chasing the world largemouth record check out Monte
Burke's book Sowbelly. An awesome read..he basically visits all the
top guys in the running for the record..most of whom live around San
Diego. Also he has a chapter on George Washington Perry and he
visits those trying to breed the record (state of Texas, etc) .  He
visits Cuba where they use beat up old boats and stone-age
gear to hunt for the record.

Sports Illustrated had it as one of the books of the year.
