Well I would love to but I just dont have the time or the money anymore for fun stuff like that.  When you get married and get into grad school there seems to much less time and even less money than you had before.   :'(  But its not all bad.  Let us know how it goes.  Later

I understand, I'll bet Grad School sucks up a bunch of time.  FYI, every tournament we fish is totally free.  Regular members pay $55 for a 1 day tourney but to college anglers its free.  Because of the free entry we can't win money though, unless you decide to enter in $10 for big bass.  We fish for points and at the end of the season depending on your points you can go to the National Championchip in October.  This year I'm headed to Louisana for the National Tourney.  At Nationals, the top 5 individual anglers win scholarships up to $5,000 and the top few team's win up to a $2,000 gift certificate to Gander Mountain.  It's a pretty sweet setup, and easy on the wallet.

Well fished Milford last night and the fishing was decent.  We caught probably 25 smallmouth but none were over 15 inches.   :'(  Lots of fish caught but only 5 were weighed in.  Tubes seemed to be the ticket of choice along with jerkbaits.

CGS I think it would be a good time to compete in the KSU team but I just dont think it will work out  for me.  Thanks for the invite though.  Surely your about back in Manhattan?

Yep!  Moved in yesterday.  I hit the water today at around 5pm for the first time in a month here on Milford.  My partner caught 1 short and I caught 1 keeper on crank's by the dam.  I'm after the smallie's, seems like the LM are hiding.  What the heck are you doing to catch 25 fish?!?  None over 15" but still, 25 bass!  I was fishing jigs and brush hogs in green pumpkin and watermelon/red flake along with a firetiger crank all down around the lower state park ramp and the dam.

Well they are NOT biting on:

Tubes
Finesse worms
Mid cranks
Deep cranks
Drop Shot baby flukes
Jigs
Spinnerbaits
Rattle Traps
Paca Craws
Suspending Jerkbaits

and on and on and on....

Those are just the stuff I tried at the first ABA tournament on Milford today.  20 anglers brought in a total of 1 fish for the entire day  :shocking:  Yep, 2 lbs. won it all, (Big Bass Pot too lo)

No one really has any ideas where the fish are.  Last weeks snow storm and weeks extreme low temps have really shut the fishing down.  The next 2 weeks weather look to be pretty warm so hopfully the fishing will get back to normal.

20 anglers with 9 hrs of fishing.... and 1 fish :surrender:

We fished it friday with no fish as well.  Then the tourney had 3 or 4 guys I knew that fished that tourney and they all said the same thing.  One buddy caught a short smallie and another caught a pretty nice drum on a tube.  Its been crazy difficult out there as well.  But the warm weather is in sight.   ~c~

I was out on Milford on Friday prefishing, if you saw a 16' Jason Bass boat with a 70 hp Yahama that was me.

In the tourney on Saturday I landed a nice drum too... on a jig.  I was just happy to catch a fish I hit theat bank 3 more times!

#32

Just finished a tournament on Milford today.  Very windy conditions but I still found the fish to be biting.  I'd guess around 12 fish for the day, 4 making it to the scales to add up to 9 lbs.  A lot of anglers didn't have much to show for, I guess I got fishing was hit or miss.  Mixed bag, 2 LM, 2 SM, most short fish were smallies.

Fishing seems to be good right now.  The females are getting fat.  I had numerous 14" LM that would have weighed in at over 2.5 lbs.  Best was a 3.1 LM with a super fat belly.  It can't be much longer until the females are holding tight on beds.  I haven't checked the forecast but unless something drastic happens the fishing should be great for the week to come.

Everybody is saying those fish are just abosolute footballs right now.  The high for tomorrow is suppposed to be like 50 with low in the 20's but then back up to mid 70's the last half of the week.  Sure wish I could have made it out this weekend but the wife had the MCAT in Topeka and I had to be with her.  :'( lo

Fishing has been so-so at Milford.  I believe last weekends Cabelas Tourney had the winner at 12 pounds or so.  A large buddy bass tournament yesterday yielded around 6 limits from 30 boats.

The last week brought colder than normal temps and LOTS of rain.  I think the LM are still waiting to spawn and with the looks of the 10 day forecast, the next couple weeks should bring good fishing.  It appears most smallies are done with the spawn.

Fishing's pretty good at Milford right now.  Most LM has spawned out but are still very active, especially later in the evening.  Mixed bags can be caught throughout the day where there is shade along rock banks or wood.  Topwater has been great for the LM in the evenings.  Lots and lots of short smallies and spots are biting very actively throughout the day.
