There are many different types of "swim jigs" on the market.  When I was first introduced to this bait, the guy kept telling me- Don't set the hook!  Finally, I learned that if you sharpen the hook to a needle point you wont have to set the hook at all.  This helps those who have problems with tennis elbow, sore arms, etc.  When you cast the jig out, let it settle, and then begin a medium retrieve.  You may or may not feel the fish hit, sometimes they just take the bait sideways.  In any event, DO NOT SET THE HOOK, just keep reeling.  The fish will close down on the bait and hook themselves as they follow along to the boat.  You will be able to give your arm a rest and greatly improve your hookup success.  Of course, you will begin reeling much faster when you detect a fish, just dont stop to set the hook.  Tight lines!!
