Ok all you Revo s owners tell me what you think of it.  I'm thinking of buying one to go along with my citica but thought I would get your opinions and thoughts first.  Thanks!

I own the Revo S and two Revo SX series baitcasters. They are well built, easy to cast, pitch, flip with, they are small profile so they "palm" very well on most any rod you put it to. They cast a country mile so be careful when you adjust it for distance casting because it will launch any lure you tie on! They are fairly easy to maintain and they hold just about any line being sold today very well. The only difference between the two that I really notice is that the Revo S doesn't have magnetic spool control, the Revo SX does. I am planning on purchasing another "S" series next month to replace an old Quantum 1310 series that I've had forever, but must now retire. Hope this helps. IMO, overall rating on 1 to 10 scale would be 9. ;D
If you give history the chance then chances are good that history will repeat itself. So pay attention to your fishing because the first one you caught was because you did something they liked!

I have the entire Revo line. I like the STX better but it does cost a bit more than the "S". When I get another, it will be another "S" though. There is not enough difference to justify the price difference. BTW- I do have a new Citica and I love it also, even though I will only use Revo's when I'm done with that Citica. Hope this helps.

Coming from a service mechanics standpoint the Revo and Citica are almost identical on the inside, even the bearing are the same :-\ I say pick them up and put them in your hand and which ever feels the best :-*

I really LOVE my Revo S. I have just got my first Citica 200 and have to say that it seems a lot bigger than the Revo. I'll be using my Citica for the first time this weekend, I'll let you know how it goes.

I have had my SX for about a year.
I really like the reel and recently had MIKE supertune and clean it about a month ago.
In my opinion the reel offers a great value for its compact size.
MY only complaint is on the Black Finish and casting thumb button.
I wish the finish held up better.
The black shows every scratch imaginable and my casting button turned color from either my own sweat or some other chemical like bug spray or fish attractant.
Fishing memories with dad.
NOTHING BEATS IT!

I have 3 Revo S reels, 1 Citica 100 and 1 Daiwa SOL.  The Citica has the smoothest Retrieve, the Daiwa casts the farthest and the Revo has the most drag.  They all have their place but there is a reason I have 3 Revos to one of each of the others...price to performance...I've had one of my Revos about a year and it's still just as smoothe as the two new ones I've got.  Oh and the Revo has the thinnest profile.
If you build a ramp...I will come...

Thanks everyone for your input.  Can't wait to get mine.

For all you guys who have the Revo "S" and the Revo "SX" how hard is it to change the brake on the "S" ? I know you just have the easy dial on the "SX" and the magnetic brake but is one any better or easier than the other? The "S" is about $50.00 cheaper but it's not as easy to fine tune is it? Thanks for any info you guys may want to share and to help me make up my mind on what to buy :help: Mike

Do you mean change the brakes or adjust the brakes ??

When I said "change" I was talking about the brake setting for different weight lures. I can't afford more than two or three rods and reels all set up and ready to go so I have to change the settings from one weight lure to another.
Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. Thanks again, Mike

No need to be sorry, I just wanted to be sure I knew what info you were looking for  ;)

The Revo S brake adjusting is very simple and takes maximum 10 seconds to adjust. There is a screw on the top/front of the reel on the handle side. Just unscrew it and twist the side plate off....set the brakes and replace the side plate.

Thats the info I was looking for! Sounds like nothing more than a thumb screw to adjust it. Thanks again, now I just need to ask my wife real nice for the Visa card or check book :'( ;)

I have bothe the S and SX and love them both. If I were to buy a new Revo it would be the S.

Good luck with the "trouble and strife"  lo

I've got an S, SX and an STX and love them all.  If I could afford to buy all STX's I would BUT I can't and will buy more S and SX's when I need to.  IMO you can't go wrong with any of those models.

Thanks guys and your info and opinions really help. I have two Abu Garcia Bait Casting reels now and my latest was the cheaper but new Silver Max and it has been a terrific reel! After doing a little tweaking on the Silver Max I Can cast so far with it that people don't believe me until they see it  lo. Never read or heard a bad thing about the Revo or Max line or any Abu Garcia products as far as that goes.  Mike

Texas_Bass_Man

I'm definitely not an expert on reels, but the S is my first baitcaster and I honestly couldn't imagine a reel that performed better.  I obviously don't have anything to compare it to, but i spent a couple hours in the yard with it, took it fishing for the first time yesterday, and I was catching bass no problem.  There are obviously more expensive reels that are obviously going to be better for one reason or another, but I see no reason for me to ever buy anything besides Abu Garcia

Mike-in-WV

Picked up the Revo S at Walmart the other day and all I can say is WOW!!  ~c~ what a great reel. I'm really not that surprised with all the reviews I have read and the fact that it's a Abu Garcia says it all, Mike
