Hey guys..  First post here!  ~c~

I got a 2002 700lx w/ 75hp and the trim gauge has never worked in the three years I've owned it. I've messed with the wires and what not, but nothing seems to help.  yea, it's probably a bad gauge, but is there a way I can test to prove it's the gauge before buying a new one?  For example, could I use a volt meter and check to see if there's power coming up to it when hitting the trim button?

Or, is there something else that may be an issue that I could check out?

You have a sending unit and a gauge. It could be one or the other that is broke or it may be both. I don't know how you test it. A volt meter may work on the gauge.

I have the same problem, except my boat isa 98' 700lx w/ 75hp. trim gage has never worked, never tried to troubleshoot it either. No real need for it. I may try to replace it with a water pressure gage. sorry i cant help

Thanks for the info guys..

I did a little more research and followed the Brown/white stripe wire from the gauge back to the engine.  Sure enough, there it sits, the Brown/white stripe wire not plugged into anything!! :o

I found on another site where the trim sender should be.  It's located where the pin that raises and lowers the motor connects to the motor.  There's two holes on the right side of the area right where the pin connects, that's where it mounts, and in my case, it's empty! :-*

Thanks for coming back and letting us know you got it fixed. Might just help the next guy that has the same trouble!   ~c~
