fix my trailer or buy a new one

Bought a used 210 ProV with 300 HPDI a while back.  Got a good deal, knew the trailer had rust when I bought it.

It needs rear coss member replaced, blasted and painted.  About a grand based on estimates I have. 

should have go ahead and drop the big dime and get a new trailer for $3500 and what ever it cost me to get it from Tenn to Houston, or fix what I have.  I am afraid I am going to be chasing rust, it was dipped in salt, knew that when I bought it.

 It sounds like replacing the rear cross member will just be a band-aid, and not fix it in the long run. If I had the $3500, I'd buy the new trailer. If I didn't have the money for a new one, that would be the only reason I'd fix the old one instead for now. Also, if it is a tube style trailer, it will rust from the inside out so you won't accomplish anything really by sand blasting and painting it. If it is the channel type, you may be able to head the rust off if it isn't already too bad.

I would say go ahead and replace it with a new or newer trailer, look around, ebay, craig list and such.
If your trailer show rust and you know it was in salt water you will have more rust in different areas in the future, its like cancer.
If the previous owner didn't took care of it and washed it good enough I think its covered with rust on the inside beams in places you can not see.
Like Allan said - it will be a band aid.
I hate to see you spend/waste $1000 and rust will pop out in a different place.
