BIG M

Here are few new styles I've been working on.   4 inch jerk bait, 2 inch deep runner, and a 1/4 thick ultra thin.   These are working prototypes but still need to be fished hard for some fine tuning.

I'm liking that deep diver!

Big M, how does lip placement determine how far it will dive? I guess what I am asking, I know a lip coming straight out of the front dives deeper so do you have some sort of gauge that tells you at what angle to place the lip to get an expected depth range? Or is it all trial and error?

Lip placement does not determine running depth.   Lip length determines running depth.   Now lip placement does have an effect on running depth.   A bait with a straight lip will reach max depth faster than a bait with a lip that is set at an angle.

Take 2 identical baits, lureA has a 2 inch lip set at 0 degrees, lureB has a 2 inch lip set at 20 degrees.   Dropped behind the boat with 200 feet line both baits will hit the same max depth but lureA will get there faster and spend more time at max depth.

Straight lip baits tend to have a tighter action and are not as good in the cover.
