I went out to dripping springs this morning in hopes of a nice trophy summer bass.  Well what was once a bustling Trophy Bass Lake of Oklahoma that supported numerous guides and had people coming from all over the country to fish is now just a hole full of water.   We fished for 5 hours this morning and only caught one crappie and one small black bass.

Upon leaving we spoke with a highway patrolman and he stated that after the lake was drained and the dam repaired in 97 that the lake has not been taken care of and has not been stocked except once right after refilling it. He stated he used to fish this lake all the time but now you simply can't find any fish in the lake.  I was supprised when we showed up at 6am that we were the first boat there and when we left there was only 5 boats on the lake.  This lake used to be packed with boats.. Well now its not even worth the drive.   So to sum it up the fish weren't biting today on anything and from speaking with some locals it seems the lake has never recovered and reclaimed its position as one of Oklahoma's premiere big bass lakes.. now its just a hole in the ground full of water.   Its really a shame since the water is very clear and there is tons of structure.  Oh well that's my report.

Thanks for the update on this one. It's a shame that they let it go like that. Surely they have to recognize the economic impact the lake used to have :'(

Hopefully they will put some money back into it and get it going again.
