I was thinking about buying a Carrot Stix spinning rod but I see a lot of them come in two pieces. Isnt one piece better?  Is there a better rod out there for the money?  Thanks

As far as I am aware Carrot Stix are only available in one piece  ::)

one piece rods should be better as theoretically they should transmit vibrations better than a two piece with 'ferrule to ferrule' connection...

on the other hand, light line, as typically is used on spinning gear isn't 'the best' for transmitting vibration either..

It's a trade-off for sure...but if you're needing to store a rod in a tight space, I don't know that it would make a 'night and day' type difference.

My two spinning rods are two-piece...never had a problem with them.  My ONE dedicated cranking rod is a two piece...XML graphite...so I figure it's a 'give/get' situation relative to those folks who use fiberglass rods for this application...and a moot point.

I haven't actually used a carrot stix spinning rod, I have a couple favorites already that would be hard to beat, though I considered buying a 1 piece.  I rarely buy any high end 2 piece rods. If your going to spend that kind of money, in my opnion, keep to the 1 piece rods and get the most out of it you can.  However if they did the connection right and the ferrule is long enough, it's not that great a difference.  My favorite 2 piece spinning rods are Redbone Hurricane rods, made for bone fishing and are usually pretty reasonable for their quality, in the 60-90 range.  I will take them over  my St Croix!  However if your going to buy a 1 piece for the money I don't think you will find a better rod for the same money than the Carrot Stix.

Steve there are several 2 piece C S spinning rods available. and an 8'6" Baitcaster  is available as a 2 piece.

as far as i am aware the 8'6" casting is the only 2 piece rod they have besides the fly rods. the pictures on the site kind of make it look like they are 2 piece but there not. doug

If you have to get a 2 pc. rod you can't go wrong with a UGLY STICK. I've caught some monster Lake Trout & Salmon from Lake Ontario with my Ugly Stick may she RIP :'(  I snapped the tip in the car trunk. ~xyz But I've caught some bigguns with that rod with an old Mitchell Spinning reel connected, still have the reel from the 80's. It needs some TLC and back to the Lake. I think this is a job for Mike ;D

DONT ever buy a 2 piece rod! unless you are using it for a travel rod and need it to break down to store it. always buy 1 piece if you can
