I fished Pott 2 alot recently.  I've always been picking up some bass every time.  My latest trip out there was this past weekend.  I fished for approx. 3 hrs with some good luck.  I caught 7 bass, largest being around 4-5lbs.  The water is pretty clear and the underwater weeds are abundant especially in the northeast part of the lake.  Watermelon/red baby brush hogs got a few small ones off the rock bank's on the far side while the bigger fish were caught on 7" culprit red shad worms T-rigged fishing in the middle of the water in the NE part of the lake.  There were so many weeds I just placed the boat in the middle and cast in all directions.  The worm would fall in between the large weed beds and bass would eat em up.  I caught 1 when I saw him surfacing chasing minnows around the weed beds.  As the sun went down I tried some topwater with no success.  All in all, a good fishing day ;)

Nice to see you back up here doing some fishing.  So you actually have time to fish in between classes?   :( :help: :surrender:

Well, I manage some time on the weekends.  I'm working on squeezing time in during the week but my schedule is a bit unforgiving >:(  Me and a friend might start fishing the Wed. night tourny out at Milford if we can get on some fish.  I'm sure I'll start hitting the water more as the temp's cool down.

I hit the water yesteday morning for a quick outing.  Bass hit good on a pond magic buzzbait by booyah up until about 10am.  Once the sun got up I switched to a baby brush hog.  Bass were a bit sluggish but got a few in about 5 ft. of water off of a rock bank.  Bass were schooling off and on and would hit about anything thrown their way, all small fish though <12".

Fished my pond back home on saturday and caught a lot of bass and a few nice chunks.  Just throwin a senko real slow and the fish just couldnt resist.  Besides that I really havent been doing much fishing either.  Now I have to decide to hunt or fish.   :'(  This really is a tough part of the year for me.   lo  Good luck this weekend.

I'll be hunting opening day of the upland bird season.  Targeting mostly quail I would guess.  What do you hunt for?  Got any good places to hit for quail?  I am planning on heading to some of the walk in hunting areas around here.  I'm new to hunting around these parts!

For me I mainly hunt ducks and geese.  I will say that we have seen a lot of pheasants out at tuttle and milford this year and in the past.  During early teal season up on olsburg we saw around 15-20 pheasants just flying around.  Milford will get some pressure for pheasants as well but there have been days when we've left the duck decoys to go chase the pheasants that fly by us.  Not real sure about the quail.  I dont do much upland cause it cuts into my waterfowling.

Hey Casey sounds like you guys represented K-State pretty well in Louisiana.  I'll let you tell the stroy if you want.  Congratulations.   ~c~

I'd love to go after pheasant but have always went for quail because I thought there were hardly any pheasant this far east.  I'll have to try it out there by Milford.
I'm guessing maybe you saw the write up about the team today in the Collegian ;)
Check out the Bass Fishing Articles section here on Ultimate Bass and there's a detailed write up about the whole thing!

Just got off the water about an hour ago.  Driving in I had a feeling it would be tough because I saw no one else at all at the lake.

I started with an X-rap on some points with no luck.  Moved onto my ol' shakey rig with a zoom finesse worm and picked up 1 little one on a rocky bank.  The wind really started to pick up so I switched to a green pumpkin jig and hit a couple docks-nothing.  Finally I got back into a small cove and got out of the wind and caught back to back 14"er's on a junebug colored ghost stick.  I was hopping for better but considering the rapidly dropping water temps it was bound to be tough.

Sounds like a tough day but you managed to a couple fish ~c~ ~c~ Good Job on the change up and playing the patterns. Did you go back to any of those points after the wind got up and try that crank bait again :-\ Sometimes the wind will turn those point fish on.

I did switch to a spinnerbait to hit 1 point but had no luck.  This lake seems to have a good shad/minnow population but I have only caught fish on a spinnerbait/crankbait when they are schooling.  The lake gets a lot of pressure in the summer so I think all the fish are pretty hammered.

~sunFirst fish of the year ~sun

I got the first bass of the year on Sunday afternoon.  I went to a small creek to hang out and do homework but even though most of the creek was iced up, I decided to throw a few where the creek widened and had some open water.  I only hit it for maybe 10 minutes but got 1 12" spotted bass.  I was using a Tiny Brush Hog (not the baby, even smaller) in watermelon/red flake on a 1/0 gammy ballhead hook 1/16 oz.  I caught the fish in the creek bend in what I would guess was around 10' of water.  This is the first time I ever fished this creek but I really like the looks of it.  Tons of alge on the bottom and endless laydowns and cutbanks.  Once I get my kayak up here I will explore it much further.  So far no skunks for the year!

Casey that creek is pretty good from what I hear.  Fallin pulled a couple 3's and a 4 out of there last fall.  Said he was tearing them up on a crawbug.  I would like to hit it sometime.  If it is decent this weekend I might go let me know if you are up for it.

We will defiantly hit it up at it gets nicer out.  As soon as I get my kayaks I'm ready to go!  Great thing about this place is that its only a 10 min. drive from campus so yes, a great place to do homework (or just fish most likely ;))

Well, we're getting closer to the consistent fishing report's here in KS, seems like the weather is starting warm it up a bit.  After getting turned away with frozen water 2 weeks ago, I finally made it out last Thursday after a week of temps in the upper 70's.  I took the kayak out to Pillsbury Crossing (deep Creek) and fished for about 1 hr.  1 bite, 1 bass.  A 2 lb. LM hit a zoom finesse worm MUCH harder than the bass I caught about a month ago, I think their slowly getting more aggressive.  She was sitting just downstream from a lay down in what I'd guess was around 5' of water.  I got a feeling the reports for this place will get better and better as the water temp raises (or atleast I hope)!

Got out to Pillsbury Crossing for a few hours today.  Water temp was still quite cold, waiting for it to start to warm up...  I got 2 bites all day, both on a watermelon/red smallie beaver.  Caught the first (pic linked below), missed the second (poor hook set :'()  If tomorrows weather is like today I'm sure I'll be back out there ;D

Ya know I sure don't.  I have a thermometer back at home I need to get in the boat with me.  I checked a local fishing report page and as of March 10th the temp for 2 local lakes was 36* and 43*.  This being a much smaller and moving body of water who knows how it compares to the local lakes.

One is better than none.  We fished Milford on saturday for a little bit but came up empty handed.  Sure had a good time with the boat though.  Nice fish and one day we'll have to meet up at Pott.  Later

cgs2004

Sounds good mgd.  The fish better start biting out at Milford, first tourney is March 25th.

I didn't make it out to Pillsbury yesterday, bad weather in the morning and too much to do the rest of the day.  I am tentatively planning on getting back out there this Thursday afternoon, we'll see if I can get a few more.
