Well it went pretty well, Rudy and I and Eric and his dad both went up there sat afternoon for some fishing and it was subpar at best, fishing was really slow, but water temps were below 70* :shocking:  We caught a few smallies and had a few blowups on frogs and it sounded about the same for Eric.  Sun I went with Jeremy and the fog was really thick so we just pulled over and started throwing a vibrashock to the weedede and ended up catching a bunch of fish, but most were short of the 14" mark.  there was 4 boats and it sounded like Karl had a decent day catching fish.  but as far as the bragging rights tournament goes I think jeremy and I won, cause Karl never came in at 12, Rudy was already gone by 12 and eric and his dad didn't keep any, so I guess that leaves Jeremy and I with bragging rights.   ;D  Overall I had a great time, thanks everybody who came and thanks Rudy for everything that you did, Jeremy for taking me with you this morning and karl for giving me a ride home.   ~roflmao  Hopefully next year will be better.

I highly reccomend turning the sound down for this video

Those photos are great, loved the video as well.

Some times it takes a few times to get a rally off the ground but they are a lot of fun.  We are hosting another one here on the Red this Oct  ~gf

I'm hoping next time we can get some more people together.  I'm going to start planning for the next one right away so maybe we can get a few more people there, but either way I had a great time.  Hopefully I can talk Rudy into coming again, but he didn't sound like he wanted to come back to that pool.  lo  cold weather and muddy water made for some not to good fishing.

the temps over night have been around the mid 50's the last 3-4 nights and the high yesterday was only 72 or so.  We saw 66 in the main channel and I think we were in some shallow weeds when we sw the 71*.  Its crazy, I swear about a week or 2 ago I caught a few largemouth that had bloody tails that looked like they were trying to spawn again or something.

Yeah overall it was a good trip.  The fishing wasnt all that great but if it was easy it wouldnt be any fun.  It is beautiful up there around PDC.  The scenery made it a little easier when we werent catching fish.  The fog moving around those big rock bluffs this morning was a sight to see.

As nate said the water temps were a lot lower than I had expected and the cold weather and murky water made for some tough fishing.  Besides jeremy, none of us had ever fished the pool before, so I guess we did ok for a day and a half on new waters.  We caught a few dink smallies and 1 dink largemouth and 3 large mouth between 1.5 -2lbs.  They were right at 14inches, fat, and put up a decent fight.  I even caught two big ugly drum.  ;D  We ran up the pool from the Lynxville ramp on saturday and fished around some backwater areas near Lansing and today we just went fished the edges of the big grass beds off the main channel till about noon when we decided to call it and day and start the drive home.

Jeremy and Nate definitely get the bragging rights as we threw out few fish back right away and they had 1 a little over 3lbs.  Im not sure how Karl did but I guess well find out soon enough.  Thanks to everybody for coming and Im looking forward to doing it again soon.

that is what all of our fished look like to...absolutely fat as could be.  They were almost as big around as they were long.  lo  and those river fish fight hard to.  Being in the current they have alot of power.  More than the river fish down here it seemed like.

yeah for a few hours until karl came back.  They had found a good spot it sounded like.  he said they went back around 1 and threw the vibrashock around again and made another 7-8 passes and caught fish everytime.

Yeah it was lots of fun.  besides the short trip.  I should have stayed tonight, but I was not really wanting to fish that muddy water again tomorrow.
I was upset that I could not get nate on some better fish today ~xyz  But then again we did not get the big skunk.

It was really great meeting all you guys that I did not already know.  Rudy, thanks for the shirt it is  great.  Since we caught all but one fish today on a vibrashock the shirts were fitting.

Nate that video is sweet.  The sound was not that bad for 50mph.  The pictures of the fog are great too.

Next year will be bigger and better ~beer~

Damn.  There is a ton of water up and it is tough to eliminate water and move on when you really dont know where you are going lol.  A lot of the vegetation in those backwater areas was brown and dying.  Every fish we got was in or around that grass (that wasnt brown and dying) and it seems your fish were the caught in the same stuff.  Was he north of lansing?  I wonder where they ended up having success at.

if you took a right at the ramp and followed the main channel up, there was 3 island and the one on the left had a large stretch of rock.  He was fishing on the north side of that large stretch of rock in some grass somewhere.  We were just south of the power plant.

He wasnt far away at all then.  Well good for him.  At least one of us had some moderate success. So where we going next year? lol

lol...I wouldn't mind going back.  The fishing is supposed to be so good there.  I think we just got unlucky weather wise this year.  lo but we'll have to decide later.  I don't think alot of people are going to make a long drive, like Karl and I  lo So i'd like to keep it close to central Illinois.  Actually I'd like to do a cabin fever rally at a power plant lake.

Newton lake is the best power plant lake and it is farther away then lansing is.

We could even do something on pool 11.  There is good fish on that pool as well.  And its over an hour and a half closer then lansing.

Or we could even do a spring time event on pool 13 and get everyone on the big fish ;)

Nate I am glad that you did not get a video of me running accross the parking lot and getting ankle deep in water saving the boat.

That  ^-^ tuna boat was tossing 4' waves and it sucked my boat right off the bank and it was heading to the dam. lo

Well, all in all it was a good trip for me. In the morning before the fog lifted we were hammering them but as soon as it burned off the fish turned off as well. I ran back to the ramp around 11am to help Rudy load his boat and then ran back out till 2pm or so. Didn't realize there was a bragging right tourney or I think we would have given you a run for your money Nate. We had a 5 fish limit in the first hour that would have pushed 12 pounds but they wen't back to grow up some  lo I see you got a nice video of me idling past you guys  lo I'll get a couple pics up later after work.

Mike, Dale Hollow sounds great!
I am going to try and get some time to post the pics I took in Prairie Du Chien.  I took some nice video of Karl's new Champion and also some pics of Karl and his crazy buddy Steve casting with some of the best looking scenic backgrounds I've ever seen while I've been fishing.  Sorry I left early guys but my world just ain't the same right now and I kept thinking about the 4.5 hour drive home... I actually had a great time just hangin' with KArl. We haven't had a chance to fish together (tournaments or just fishing) for the last year!  So I tried to get a bunch of Pics of him in the new boat.  He was catchin' em on a regular basis while I was following him around like a crazed tournament fishing groupie  ~roflmao ~roflmao
This was a great idea Nate.  Let's do it again!
