Just thought I would show off our hers and his computer, I finally got the fan and lighting straightened out on em.

Next time I go in to clean out the dust bunnies in a couple of months, I am going to do something with the wires, don't know what yet though.

Thanks, yea they are pretty quick dual cores. I am planning out a couple of quad cores next, may take a while though because we are talkin big bucks then.

how i would love a quad core, but between fishing and computing, i think now my heart goes to fishing.

Its expensive as is for me. But, i will be saving up as soon as i get a job for a new pc, and im building my own of course(have been building pc's since 12) and using linux since then as well as windows.

I used to do some programming, but now do mostly graphic art.

Nice pc's

I actually just put together my wish list on newegg earlier today for my spring/tax time refund build... came to around $800 after shipping.
Antec 300 case, GIGABYTE GA-P55-USB3 LGA 1156 Intel P55 board, SeaSonic S12II 520 Bronze 520W PSU, Intel Core i3-540 Clarkdale 3.06GHz LGA 1156 73W Dual-Core CPU, CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 RAM, Win7 64-bit... I also have a nvidia 8400GS video card on the list but that will actually go in my current Intel E6600 system and the 9800GT will get moved over to the new PC.

I am choosing the faster dual core since so few programs actually make use of more than 1 or 2 cores anyways, so 3.06GHz will go a lot farther than 2.4GHz will. I have a 2.4GHz dual core right now....

Now its just a matter of convincing the wife.... that or I may talk her into letting me spend $800 on a jon boat with trolling motor...

I have a 2.9 gig quad core sitting here waiting for a new Power supply on this machine. With what I have in it, 400 watts ain't enough, proly double it.

Right now I'm at about 2.9 on my dual core and this machine is pretty quick.

I agree, unless you run tons of stuff at the same time, or do some gaming and extra stuff with the game, a dual core running near 3 gigs with a bunch of ram is all you need. Most affordable quads are a little on the slow side, and the extra cores don't make up for the speed right now.

I have my eye on the AMD 3.0 gig 6 core chip in black, would love to clock that one and see what I can do with Dragon Age's graphics. I saw them near 200 bucks, maybe this time next year it will be under a hundred.
