Toledo Bend 02/17/10

Water Tempertures: 45-48 degrees.
Water clarity: mostly stained every where

The bass are definitely on the move with several reports coming in of 15-20 lb sacks on spinner baits, jigs, & lipless cranks. Most bites are coming in 4-7' outside grass lines on the south end of the lake which is strange because the north end usually kicks it first. Of the 7 reports only one was from the 1215 area every thing else was Lowe's Creek south both Texas and Louisiana sides.

5 of the 7 reports came from the mouths of major creeks with the other 2 about 1/2 way back into the creeks.

Hot baits were

Oldham's Jig 3/8 oz. black/blue with a 6" Gene Larew Hawg Craw with the tail cut completely off making for a stubby jig.

XCalibur's One Knocker 3/4 oz. Royal Red

Stanley's Original VibraShaft 1/2 oz. with a white/chartreuse skirt, gold/silver double willow leaf

thanks...sounds a little backwards but so what...by the way,  do you live on the lake..and these reports you give are you the one catching the bass..or are those 2nd hand reports...just curious...i am planning to go Fridday,,sat and maybe sun,..and need some help...

I've a camp on 6-Mile so some of these reports are mine & the other reports are realible freinds who also live on the lake.

There have been other reports but they were skunked so I don't post those!

The weather is going to be awesome with highs in the low to mid 60s during the day & lows in the 50s. There is a front approaching but it's coming out of the Gulf which is a warm front.

I was suppose to go yesterday but I came down with strep throat. I let John take my boat to go prefish for a tournament we have this weekend. I can tell you he fished midlake area and I can tell you he didn't do well. Water temps much the same as what has been reported by catt. He did find some clear water but said most areas were stained. There is a lot of fresh water in the lake and it has risen quite a bit. I think as the water temps rise the fish will move in the flooded brush and the North end will kick it in to high gear. The grass is what's holding fish on the south end so that may be why they are a little easier to locate down there at least for now.

Thanks for the reports. I've been down all week with bad cold so all I can report is one guy had a few fish on spinner baits in PaloGaucho,think he said one weighed 4 lbs but most were males. Just too dang cold for this old man to fight it.
Looks better for next week so I'm ready to rock & roll !

It has definitely been feast or famine Rattle.  It should be interesting for many folks thinking they are going to the usual Toledo Bend in February. Things are a little different than usual.
I think the North end is ready to explode....if not this warm front for sure by next weekend.

It's been a strange start but this weather should jump start the entire lake

Biting or not...here I come...I am headed that way tomorrow...planning to fish..friday, saturday and maybe sunday if I can hang in there...I only know Supalvods landing North....Pendleton Bridge Mid lake and Dam levi grass beeds..Any sugestions from yous guys...

Forgot one report..My friend that owns Adco Reel repair caught a nice 8 lber north around Solon's on spinnerbait earlier in the week. He said he caught her in 4-6 feet during one of our very few sunny days.
