Ok, I am going to be trying pitching and flipping this year, for the first time.  I have my rod, I have my reel and I have 50# braided line.  I am planning on flipping a lot with soft plastics like the beavers.  I have also decided to use a straight shank hook, attaching it to the line with a snell knot.  I have watched a few videos on you tube and know how to tie a snell knot now, but I was wondering how many times you all twist the tag end around the hook?  I have found that the line don't get all bunched up, and the knot doesn't get weaker the more times that the tag end is twisted around the hook.

So, what do you all do when tying a snell knot?

with braid i twist it 9 or 10 times a little more than mono and i havent had it slip. check it often...

I do mine 8 to 12, usually when in a hurry I keep it at 8 and haven't had a problem.

I have snelled some very large salt water hooks with 100 lb leader material and had a very hard time getting 8 wraps before my fingers gave out.  ~roflmao

I don't remember ever snelling with braid, usually use mono or floro leader material.
