***Newest Report As A Reply Further Down***
Fishing for big fish on Ivie is getting good. I would be suprised to see a SAL come out of the lake in the next couple weeks around these fronts. It is a good time to be here if you are looking for your personal best. Weather has been awesome (minus a couple really windy days) and the fish have been eating.

If you are looking for bites there are a lot of active bass around the grass with a little wind. Traps, swimbaits, flukes, etc are working best. Look for bait and you will find these fish. Most of these fish are 2-4 lbs with an occasional 6 or 7 lber. Most of the big fish we are catching are outside those grass areas around the creek channels or closest deep water. 15-25ft. Best bets are football jigs, crig big plastics or deep cranks. Find these fish and the bait on your electronics and go to work. There is also a good crankbait and spinnerbait bite up the rivers if river fishing is your game.

We have caught some nice 7-10lb 2oz fish the past two weeks and I will get some of those photos posted when I get them sent to me from the clients that caught them.

If you have any questions on Ivie feel free to message me or call. Come out and get in on the big fish action.

Had a client today that just wanted to go out and get that "one big bite". He just didnt say who should get that bite! lol  I wish he would have caught this fish but he is headed back next week to try again! 11lb 1oz

Also included is a pic of a 12.72 caught by my tourney partner on one of our holes two weeks ago.

I am going to try and get on more often and keep you guys updated. As always if you are headed this way give me a call or shoot me a message and I will help you get started on Lake Ivie whether or not you are fishing with me.

Have a great week,

We appreciate you taking the time to post it as well as sharing the pictures.
Be safe on the water and good luck the rest of the week with your fishing.

I saw where you attemped to register as a guide with UB.  Ron should get back with you on getting you
squared away with registering.  He fished a tourney yesterday so hopefully today he'll be in contact.

Got a chance to take my Dad out for a couple hours today while he was down for Thanksgiving. Caught another good jig fish. Great day on the water with my dad. We didnt catch big numbers but we had this one and another about 4.5 with a few smaller fish. Fished about 3.5 hours.

This fish had a huge head and long body. Long and slender. I should have measured the length. When this fish fills out it is really going to be a hoss.

10 lb 6 oz

Have a great week.

Fishing for big fish on Lake Ivie is still good. First drops outside the feeding flats are where its at. Fish are actively feeding with some wind. Crig, jig, and cranks are producing in 15-25 ft.

10.84 from Thursday. New personal best for Bentley Fatheree of Houston, TX.

JR, you in the main lake or the rivers?  I am trying to learn the lake as I recently moved here.  I have fished the Concho a few times but that's about it so far.  Can you throw me a bone?

Thanks,
Bryan

Bryan I fish it from one end to the other. There are fish everywhere to be caught. I am mainly fishing ledges around the river channels. I prefer to fish deep and utilize electronics and maps to find them. They are pretty easy to find just hard to determine when they are going to eat. Seems like there is an hour or two per day they are eating. It is on when they are and slow when they arent.

JR, did the grass ever matt this year?  I ran down in August to Flip a little grass and for the most part all I found was pondweed.  I us to tear them up in Grape and Elm on the grass before the lake fell so far!  ~gf

txwhitetail

It didnt mat up as much as the water dropped to meet it! Water kept dropping so most of the good grass was pretty shallow not as good for flipping. Couple areas were good but a lot of it ended up on the bank as the water dropped.

Thats what it looked like to me too.  Sure hope we get some rain this spring!  That lake fishes Great for me when it has about 14 foot more water in it.

12/22/2010 Report
The warm weather between these fronts has made for pretty good fishing on Ivie. Still catching good size. I havent been fishing for numbers so not sure what a good numbers day is. Quality is good though. Rockcrawler football jigs w Xcite Chunk Trailers, Xcalibur lipless baits, and Lake Fork Tackle spoons doing most of the damage.

Get just outside the feeding flats in 15-25 ft. The closer to the river channel and deep water the better. When you find them there are more than one. Water temps are starting about 50 and getting up to 52 (on warm days) by the time I get off the water.

Had my brother out today and went big fish hunting / prefishing for some upcoming trips this week. Our best 5 would have gone 32-33 lbs with 10lb 2oz being the biggest. I have included a couple pics from today. I have had 7 bass over 10 lbs caught out of my boat in December with several in the 8-10lb range.

Everyone have a great week and Christmas. As always if you are headed to Ivie give me a shout and I will help with some updated info as I can.

Check out my website www.lakeiviebass.com for 2010 catch photos and lake information.
