I am open to discussion on it. It will have to be a very well planned out event. Would like to see if we could get some sponsors for it as well.

I think its a good idea...just remember they take a lot of planning and setting up. Oh and don't forget lots of $$. My opinion is it would need to take TOTAL Club participation to pull off a good "Classic" and not just a few doing all the work for eveyone to enjoy. If we all work together I think it could be very good and something we could all look forward to every year.

I agree about the planning and stuff but the money will be the same as fishing sem or eufala to me. I say at the next meeting we bring it up and see what happens and if everybody agrees to try and do it then the planning can start. It cant be that hard there is a lot of clubs that are doing it.

Many of the clubs just hold a normal tourney and tack on the name "classic" to it, maybe increase the fees and have a few different rules but overall not much out of the ordinary.

FYI Capt Dan Pike is working hard to find us some additional Club sponsors. Had a long talk with him yesterday while fishing a Private Lake with him (Great day had 13 bass). He mentioned quite a few possibilities, all of which sounded great - we just need to give him a little more time.

I have to ask...What is the idea (purpose) behind having a classic? In BASS it is a T that people qualify for. Is that our intentions or is it just a glorified 2 day tournament? Do the points from the Classic count towards the yearly total?

Also, we must keep in mind we are a club and not a federation of pros. Our club is made up of many people from diverse financial backgrounds. Our aim is always for the most participation. We never want to get to the point where we get too big for some club members.

This club has worked from inception based on the fact we have kept it simple. We are growing very quickly but I believe we can keep the same reputation that has helped our club get to where it is today.

I guess I have always viewed the Top 6 as the Classic. I would like to see more discussion go into improving the Top 6 Tournament. Maybe our club can host it and set the bar with sponsorships and cookouts. I would like to see others from the various clubs turn out in support of the event. Maybe we need to do some publicity work.

I guess what I am getting at is we have the Top 6, the Tournament of Champions, and now talk of a Classic. Throw in the Federation T and various others and things start to get complicated. When that happens we get people who start to lose interest. We value each member and don't want to lose members due to the club losing it's small club feel and simplicity. We want to make the tournaments easy for all to participate in financially.

I am sure if we work together on this and define our goals first, then we can come up with something that will work for the club as a whole

Not everyone in the club gets to fish the top 6. Not everyone in the club gets to pay 100.00 to fish in the federation nation tournaments, Tournament of Champions and so on. It would be nice to give the whole club or most of the club members a chance at something diff. I really don't think it would be that hard to put something like this on, but we will talk about it at the next meeting.
