Can't fish this weekend - daughter coming in from Ohio to introduce me to - as she puts it "the future father of my future grandchildren".  Lord I'm getting old, already got 1 grandson that's keeping me busy.

Do you have your guns ready? I think I would be cleaning my guns and any that I could borrow from friends. Just have them laid out on the coffee table when he comes over. Also make sure he can throw a baitcaster, if he can't, boot him out instantly! He's not the man your daughter needs. Just my 2 cents!

Im fishing seminole sat.  looks like know one wants to join in.  If i aint back by the nov 5th meeting send a search party for me. lo lo lo

Scott

Steve, you got a GPS? Hope so. That's a pretty big place and it's easy to get turned around. If you have any problems give me a call on my cell 319-631-4448. Lots of stump, and they are right where you wouldn't expect them, in the middle of the lake. Talk to you later.

SteveK

thanks for the info.  yea i just bought a garmin 76cs.  dont have the hot maps for it yet but will soon.  i borrowed a good map from todd.  it shows where the channel is.  I should be safe to open her up in the channels correct?

Scott

As long as you are out in the channel following the markers and bouys you will be fine. Just take your time and don't take any shortcuts. Good luck. Let us know how you do.

Forget the lake - head up the river.......

RoyB

Steve, unless that Garmin is the GPSMap 76, I don't think it will accept maps.  The regular GPS 76 just showed a history trail; but mo maps.

SteveK

oh yea it accepts maps.  it came with a base map of the us.  and i have downloaded all of florida alabama and georgia local roads on it too.  i should have the hot maps for lakes and stuff by the end of the year.

SteveK

bob,  whats up with you river rats?  I am going to hit the lake mostly.  but hey if i dont have any luck there i will try the river.  but looks like where im launching the dam is in the way, unless there another access to river up north of the lake.  i will figure it out when i get there.

Scott

You can always lock through to go south or head about 5 miles north and there you are. THE RIVER! You only have 726 miles of shoreline to choose from. Good luck!

SteveK

hey whats up with the lock thing?  is that where you get closed in and they raise and lower water to get you to the other side?  that sounds kind of cool.  i might just try it for the experience.  and if im not having any luck on the lake i may have to.

Scott

Yep, that is exactly what it is. There is a phone number you can call to talk to the lock operator. It should be listed somewhere on the army corp of engineers website. Never done it myself by I know a few guys who have.

RoyB

The lock is great!  there is a rope to pull that sounds the horn for the lock operator.  It normally takes a good 45 minutes to lock through.  I much rather fish the river there.  Seminole is big and you have to be careful where you fish due to license regulations.  If you are on the Georgia side with no Georgia license, well...you've got a lot of explaining to do. :o
