hi guys and gals I got a question for ya's. I have a 2008 nitro z7 with a merc 150 efi. I love the boat, but i can not run an 8 hour tournament with out my starting battery going dead. I have taken my boat to a marina and also have taken my altenator off the motor and had it tested, they tell me nothing is wrong with the altenator. I have bought 2 new batteries for it, but by time the end of the tourney is up, my batttery wont even start the boat. I come home charge it up, then next time out on the water. same thing good for the first few hours, then my warning alarm starts to ring every time i start the motor, then it wont even start. Im  getting very frustrated. Can anyone out here help me?
Thanks for your time.

Hi Bassin, Have had, and know alot with same problem....If u r running your livewells, electronics ect. this will happen with one battery. You can run 2 batteries... 800 cca min. ea.(1600 total )  tie in + to+.... - to - to keep your 12v. this will allow more reserve amps to run things and still allow you to start motor.

Sounds like you have a short from something in cranking battery circuit. Turn on then off all things you use on lake and then all off.  Remove the plus wire from your cranking battery and put a 12 v bulb in circuit between battery + and cable clamp. If the bulb lights you have a short.

I'm with Jim on this one, something is drawing power all the time. The one time I had this happen I had left my compartment lights on all day without realizing what I'd done. Could be you have something similar going on. Check the lights, bilge pump, etc. to see if they are constantly on.

Have your voltage regulator checked. If it's shorted out it will cause problems like you are having.

Did you ever resolve the issues with the battery in the Nitro? I am having very similar issues and would like to hear if and how you solved the problem.

Thanks
