I ordered the Abu Garcia REVO Rocket from BSP during the Spring Sale, it was originally $300 marked down to $130 or so for the sale. I did not have the need for a new reel, but was intrigued by the 9.0:1 gear ratio, which equals 37" of line return per handle revolution. I do not have any high speed reels, and was wanting to get others opinions on the reel and what it has excelled at for you.
I am looking at using it as a niche type reel for topwater or jig fishing...since those are the techniques where I believe the fast retrieve will be a benefit...Opinions?

Short Video of the reel if interested:

WOW, GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!  ~c~ ~c~

ABU SHOULD CONSIDER HIRING YOU FOR THIER NEXT REEL RELEASE VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

And then when you match it with the Veracity ROD........the rod and reel funatics should all be on shortly to give you a big cheer.  ;D

You find some red Cajun Line and a Red Craw colored bait for your video of the on water testing........no one will even be looking at the fish you catch.  ;)

And to top it all off........you got yourself a well balanced strong performing setup in your ARSENAL!

CONGRATULATIONS!  ~c~

Side note........showing the tap measure in your video brings in the REALITY of the IPT claims we all pay attention to now days!!!!!
I have multiple high speed reels......including a RevoRocket20 spinning reel which has a 37" IPT......it was/they were just numbers to me (although being anal I'm well aware of what those numbers represent)........but seeing the REALITY of the actual amount oif line being brought in is AMAZING to say the least.

Thanks Again for sharing your video with me/us!

I picked up 2 myself. The $300 for that reel was pretty stiff for what you get, but being based off the Auroras platform, I get it. All aluminum construction is something you really don't see now. Most reels are just the frame, and maybe the sideplate. The fact the palmplate is also aluminum is fantastic. The only thing I wish it had was a set of brass gears. Worse comes to worse, I can order a set from Doyo. I spooled mine with Senshi mono, gonna try it as a worming reel. Should be good to target pockets, since I can pick up line quick for the next pitch.

My wife says she is gonna leave me if I go fishing one more time........lord how I will miss that woman.

There is a recent thread somewhere where several of us picked up some of those reels. It was quite comical. I have one and a friend also got one and have been fishing them quite a bit recently. I have mine on a Savvy 735 rigged one of two ways. One with a Zoom Hornet Toad or a 3/8 or 1/2 oz jig like my friends. We use 50 and 65 lb braid pitching to high % areas.

I have found the use of it with a toad to be awesome. The speed of it will easily put the toad on plane with next to zero effort. And being it's a topwater bait you can see if your not going slow enough. Really simple for those who say I can't slow down.  ::)

First off thank you analfisherman for the kind words...I am glad you liked it.

I had the chance to try it out on Sunday for a few hours...I used it with a jig and with a blade bait...It is definitely fast. The slack disappears in no time, and if you are out of the target zone on a long cast or you mess your cast up...you can really get the bait back to the boat ASAP. The reel casted perfectly smooth with 12lb Suffix Mono, and the brake systems seemed to work flawlessly. I think this reel will definitely be playing a role in my future fishing...can't wait to try topwater. The only regret I have is not getting 2 for $130 each.
