Need Feedback NuTech Elite Mega Blade

I have not purchased any of these as yet so I do have some questions for folks that have purchased and used this product.  Here is my concern.  It seems like this would create a very heavy pull and would require a lot of force to get it to run correctly.  While this may not be true I don't know so I am asking.  I know that on a non mega blade product if you are using a lighter rod it will beat you to death with the hard vibrations.  While that is not a bad thing it forces me to use a heavier rod.  Can someone give me some first hand feedback from a normal users perspective and should I consider 3/4 or 1 oz as the product to try out.  What are you currently using for rod and line choice when using this bait.

I am asking because of baits like the Black Widow spin jig.  Works great but is a hard pull.

All the fish we've been finding have been in lees than 10 feet of water but, I did get a chance to throw the 1oz some on one of my last day's on the water. I used a Dobyns Savvy 734 and a slightly heavier Denali Rosewood 884 (heavy). The Elite Mega Blade delivers A LOT of action without working yourself to death. You don't need to rip it through the water to get action out of it and I'd say my rod choice will depend on how I'm fishing it. Slower retrieves with drop and fall presentations, I'll use the Savvy 734, it is far more comfortable. If I'm using more powerful presentations, I'll use the heavier rod.

I'm looking forward to getting more time on the water with the Mega Blade next week. I flipped the blades with the line on top of the blade last time, next trip I'm flipping them back. I think line coming from the bottom  allows it to be fished slower.

One thing I will mention, if you rip that baby through the water, it should call 'em in from ten miles out. You will feel it and hear it.

Never considered tying on top of the blade always on the bottom.  My follow up question would be that I expect to retrieve much like a spinnerbait and most likely would use my 735C or perhaps even my 705CB but worry the 705 might not be enough.

Also interested in how the bait stays down, on a consistent retrieve I would think it may tend to rise up in the water column but not sure about that.  Expect to fish the bait in water 10 to 20ft deep with little structure on the bottom other than humps and bumps

I tend to use a lot of different techniques with bladed jigs. I fish them like a spinner. I fish them like a swim jig. I fish them like a crank bait, and like I would a hard swim bait.

With the blade flipped so I'm tied to the top of the blade, I get more action and the bait doesn't rise as much.

Tied below the blade the bait rises more easily and has a little less action.  Great for slow presentations.

Jim, I never heard of anyone that tied top vs bottom.  Is that a practice that I am just unaware of?  I would also like to hear Bo's comments about that.  Hell I can't even remember how I tie em.  Just never thought about it but I think I tie on the bottom   LOL   If you remember the old flat fish lures with the spoon pointing down it was always a top (only choice) tie.  But the chatterbait i think the spoon was always UP.  Oh Well, I'm old and now I have to go look at one to remember.

I've done this with the NuTech Crazy Jig as well. I remove and reverse the blade at the split ring.
