Has anyone ever swapped the oiled felt washers in a spinning reel for carbon drag washers and increased the drag performance? I've lately been interested in trying this so I can use a smaller reel without giving up too much performance. I already use a smaller reel than a lot of guys. Currently a Pflueger Trion 30 size but I want to try a 25 size out.

Penn has carbon drag kits as upgrades for many of it's older reels.  Their brand name is HT100.  I have a couple older Penns that I upgraded and have replaced the drag.  I think that it is a great improvement, although both drags worked well, Ht100 does seem to work better IMO.

Quality carbon drags would be an excellent improvement, Mike or Matt can tell you brands to look for.

I guess there's no such thing as just getting some normally made for a baitcaster close in size and trimming to fit? Maybe just a sheet of the stuff and make your own? I sort of figured I won't find any to fit a reel like the one I mentioned.
