Its looking like Dean and I won't be fishing the 100% tournament at Naci.......what about you guys, Stan or Cal??

TomG

Stan or Cal, are you guys going to pre-fish??

Stan

I"ll probably go tomorrow, leave the house about 1400 and fish from 1600 to around 2100.  Taking the wife and kids they have never been up there before.  Then I'll probably do the same thing but stay a little longer about a week out from the tournament.  How 'bout you guys?
Stan

TomG

Stan, did you go Friday night?  We fished Cachuma on Saturday.  How was the bite?  Did you catch any Largemouth?

Stan

Yep, went Friday night.  Fished for about 4 hours.  Didnt get any LMB, but the spots were easy pickins.  It's hard with kids to really check things out but next rip will be more of a search trip.  How was Cachuma?
Stan

TomG

Kind of Slow, had one decent small mouth and one descent LMB.  There was an Anglers choice tourny their.  I think the winning weight was in the 13lb range........

TomG

Stan, how was the weather?  Did it get cool once the sun set?  Also how were the bugs, was there alot of mosquitoes??

Stan

Weather was great!  About 78 when we first got there, and about 65 when we left at 10:30pm.  The wind was up but it subsided once the sun went down.  Bugs weren't a problem either, didn't have to put any repellent on.  I was thinking of going out to Cachuma this weekend, did the water cool down some?
Stan

Stan

Oh yeah, we paid $15 to get into the lake and then $6 for the Monterey pass.  We got to the lake at about 4:30pm.  When we left the guy at the gate said that the day use was only good until the sun goes down but he wouldn't charge us an addittional $15 this time for staying until 10:30.  So you better go to the bank before this next tournament because it might cost you $36 just to fish at the lake not including tournament fees.

I think Glenn and them worked it out last year with the park so all we had to do was write in Night Tournament on the ticket and we were good to go.  That's why I wish they would change it to a day tournament.

What day are you thinking of going to NACI?  I've got this saturday free

TomG

The next time we go to Naci will be for the tournament.

Stan

I'll be going up there Saturday.  Get there around 1400 and fish until about 2300.  Max already asked if he could go, but if you want to head up there we will be there.  I'm up in Reno right now, and there opening up a BPS here in the spring, and one in Sacramento next year also.  Looks like I'll be coming to visit my Mom more often.

I see that Bob Dixon is out there on WesternBass fishing for info on Naci.

Its kinda.................. lo that last year you guys didn't practice before the tournament because of the high gas prices and entry fees to get into the lake, but this year you have a slim, yes slim 3 point lead on us for Anglers of the Year and you will have practiced twice prior to the tournament.  I think someone is a little worried about us passing them............................. ~shade

Stan

Not really worried about the Angler of the year race 'cause whatever happens, happens.  I just want to go fishing and Max has been hounding me to go to Naci, so why not.  Yeah I was complaining last year about gas, but that is when it was on the rise with no end in site.  I have come to the realization that like my boys, Montgomery Gentry say, "I ain't gonna sacrifice my families safety to save on a little gas."  And besides, if gas hits $4 per gal are you going to give up fishing altogether?  Not me!

Stan, how did it go the second time out there?  Any largemouth bass??  This time you will have some company in that area since I have my partner this year.  From most of the reports it seems like the largemouth bite is not the same this year as it was last year.

Stan

Picked up a couple LMB but there was no size to 'em.  Yeah I figured you guys would be over there too.  I actually hit the lake yesterday at about 1330, so I had plenty of time to scout out some new area's.  Yesterdday was the first time I ever really went out and fished most of the lake.  Found some pretty good places too.  Depending on how things go you may not see us over in honey hole number 1 this time.  And let me tell you, without any moon last night, it was DAAAAARK out there.  Make sure you plot the route back with the ole GPS, and be careful there is at least one marker buoy out in the middle that doesn't have a flashing light on it.  Almost took that baby out last time I went out with my family.

I will talk to you Wednesday at the meeting.
