Hey RAM,
I was watching Hank Parker this morning and I thought about our meeting when Chris mentioned that he bought bulk spools of line. Hank gave a tip to store your bulk spools in AIR-TIGHT coolers to extend the life of the line. He also said to not store the line, in say a garage, because of the smells that will soak into the line. It makes sense to me. I store my line in a couple of shoeboxes but now Im off to Walmart to buy a cheap cooler.

I did see that one the other day.  Good tip.

i keep my rods in my basement where it is cool and dry but there are some funky smells in there... then I keep my rod in my garage during the season...

for the 1st time in years I was giong to roll with the line I had on last year but I am pretty worried about it.

does anyone have any opinions? Do you all change our your line season to season?

During the winter I will change line once. Spring thru fall I will change every four to six trips, never longer that a couple of months.

clarker you serious or do you just want me to drop a moster at the boat when the money is on the line???? Ha like Sherlock Holmes used to say "the game is a foot"

I just spoke to a buddy at work that does a lot of fishing and he said he strips his line off and puts it back on backwards. I might try that out

I always start with fresh line on my reels at the start of every season. The thought of them sitting for up to 3 months during the winter screams MEMORY to me. I like the straightest line I can get and HATE with a passion when Im stareing at those half-loops in your line while your working a bottom lure. Also, theres something about fresh/new line on my reel that boosts my confidence level too!

Throughout the year, the combos that I use most get new line the most often. My other combos I monitor and put new line on when needed. Any line-twist and it comes off. Also, throughout the season when my rods are in the corner I periodically spray VanDam Line and Lure conditioner to keep the line moist.

E, dont listen to Clarker, he's being strategic in his quest for another AOY victory!  lo

I was being sarcastic E.  Im sure you knew that! ;)

I always always always put on new line once in the begining of the season and then at least one more time if not more often each season.  I know we arent pros but those guys change line every night.  Thats sort of expensive but you gota figure they do it for a reason.  Plus new line just feels better.  Its sort of like putting new guitar strings on or if you dont play guitar, new underwear.  It just feels better, smoother etc...

Years ago I would change it only when I found fraying or defects but not anymore, Im religious with this stuff.  Also cleaning and lubing, twice a year if not three times.

Gotta take care of your stuff, if not it will not take care of you.

Good tip Smartbass.  Might have to do that...

We gotta look up the rules on that DOUBLE FLUKE rig......dont know if its considered casting 2 lures at once and therefore we would have to ban it.......HMMMM?!?!  lo

What would you do without it, E?? Could you catch fish without it?? Just messin' wit ya, dawg!  :)
1 is luck, but 2 is a pattern!

emazing

I can catch fish without it but you have to keep up with the new techniques when you are fishing LR so much. That place gets so much pressure that the fish get conditioned in about 1 season. That is the best thing about the double fluke and the drop shot, not a lot of low boaters or weekend anglers know those techniques so they work great on LR. Here is a pick of 2 fish I caught at the same time last year on a double fluke....crap I have said to much.. getting face book account now

J, I think Clarker was messing with E. The double-fluke and swimbaits are E's money lures!

E, in regards to your pic up there, I think the bass in your right hand was trying to eat the bass in your left hand and they both ran into your hooks!  lo

BASS rules I believe say something to the effect of; you cant throw any lure with more then 3 hooks.  So if you had a jerkbait with 4 trebles then that would be illegal.  Never seen one with 4 trebles but you know what i mean.  So you could throw a triple fluke rig if need be.

i get the hook rule....but what about 2 lures on a single line?   i never have seen anyone in BASS competition do it, so i just figured it was against the rules??   8)

AINT SKEERED!!

Come to think of it I have never seen a PRO interviewed where he talked about throwing a Double Fluke-rig. Maybe its one of those techniques that is so good whoever does throw it keeps it a secret....because surely noone believes that the VanDams, Reese's, Ike's, etc are willing to share with us ALL of their bass catching details......they do keep some techniques to themselves, for sure.

I believe KVD thorw the d fluke rig.  I have seen many guys throwing d-shot rigs with the bottom weight being a jig or other hook and weight.  It is legal.

Lipnbass

Actually the double fluke rig is legal.  Tom Mann Jr. used it to catch most of his catch on Lake Lanier last year.  There was an article about it somewhere.  I can't seem to find it now though.

there are a lot of techniques out there that pros are doing that no one is talking about. When we get our site up and running I will post some of them there.. I know 2 or 3... one just became very popular this year and BPS is all over it.. damn cat is out of the bag now :(
