I've been having intermittent wifi issues for the last month. Cox has replaced outlets, main line and the modem. I've ran hard wired on my iMac and MacBook Air from the modem and never loose connection. Connection is lost while sitting next to the router as well. My money is on my router.

I'm currently running a Netgear AC1600. I've been looking st the Asus line or another AC1600. I paid 260 for it a few years ago. They have them now for 120.

Any other suggestions on routers?

Asus makes some fantastic routers. I have heard from several coworkers that they are very happy with their Asus routers. I have a netgear cg3000 something or another and I wouldn't recommend it. Thing was expensive and a pain in the rear to set up. Had to even do a firmware update cause it wasn't working right.

Thanks. I hadn't thought about any updates for my Netgear. In the beginning, this AC was awesome.

None available. I'm going to drop coin on another one.

That looks like a good router. You're an Apple user too aren't you? Is that TimeMachine compatible? Specs aren't clear and you may not care. Take a look at the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900. Amazon has it for not much more and it's TM compatible so you can connect an external USB drive to use as a NAS for all your devices.

I am Jim. I've thought about it, but I've had so so luck in the past. I'll look at the AC1900. Thanks

Thanks for everyone's input here. It was greatly appreciated. I went ahead and dropped coin on the ASUS (RT-AC68U) Wireless-AC1900 Dual-Band. It arrived yesterday afternoon. Setup was a breeze and I have the home network running. I tried like hell to loose connection last night. Streamed a ball game on the MacBook Air, had a Teamviewer session on my iMac running all night and constant browsing social media on my iPad.

Never dropped connection once.
