I'm heading up there this summer for a mini get away with some friends. I've never been on the lake, and any information about the lake would be helpful. From what I can tell, it's deep, clear, and has a ton of boat docks.

Up river can be more of what your used to with big flats filled with laydowns. Down by the dam has very clear water and steep banks.

Top water early is going to be your best friend. Swim jigs around the docks, white or bream colored.

The docks are floating, one of the best patterns I found in the fall there was to pitch into the stalls. Because they are floating they have metal cross beams under them. Pull your bait up to the cross beam and tick against it. Another good pattern was iffy but worked well because no one else would do it. Skip a jig or shakey head up under the steel cables that hold the docks in place. If you could make it to the walk ways under the cables you could get bit almost every time. But pulling a quality bass out was tricky :surrender:

Thanks for the info. The river is definitely one area I'm going to hit. I've never fished boat docks like those before so that little bit of info is great. I was completely unaware of the metal structure underneath those. I'm going to give it the good old James Watson try and throw a big spoon around them too.

I grew up fishing Grand, but that was a long time ago!  I get up there occasionally now, and what Mike said is very accurate.  If you have trouble catching bass, find a windy point and throw crank baits across it.  You'll have your hands full catching white bass!
A spinning rig may be the best bet for getting under the docks and cables.
We used to have a floating dock in Big Hollow.  It had beds, stove, etc, and you parked the boat underneath it.  The floor lifted off and you get get in and out of the boat there.  We often left the boat outside and spent many winter nights by the fire fishing for crappie through the floor!  Good memories...
