I am such a creature of habit when it comes to launching the boat.  Here is my make ready walk around steps.

1.  Upon exiting the vehicle I unhook the bow hold down chain

2.  Walk back to the aft port side storage locker and take out the PFDs, The dock line and a couple of towels that the mrs likes to sit on.  I place these items in the helm and passenger seats

3.  Hit the trim switch on the motor and raise the motor up high enough to remove the transom saver.

4.  Install the drain plug

5.  Remove port side transom strap and then the starboard side transom straps and place in the expedition.

5.  Install Helm and bow electronics and place storage bag in the expedition

6.  Place boat key in boat ignition

7.  Move to launch ramp and back down part way so I can remove the winch strap and climb into the boat.

8.  Wife back me in and the boat floats off of the trailer, start the big motor and pull to courtesy dock

9.  Wife pulls away and parks the trailer then meets me at the courtesy dock.

10.  We put on the PFDs, I start the helm electronics and off we go.

This is just the process I always use and it has just become a habitual practice.

and while I appreciate people who ask if they can help, I prefer they don't.

it breaks the cycle, habit.  and leads to me 'missing' one of those steps.

guessing you also have a 'reverse process' for when  you trailer up after boating?

Bud Kennedy

Yes indeed.  It just becomes a habit after doing it this way for so many years.  OH Yeah, I agree....I don't want any help because it really can mess up things.  If I get distracted during the processes then I just have to do it all over again.  lol

I don't see anywhere about when you fall out of the boat after you trip on a dock line. I used to almost always do somethin' STUPID.

I don't like help or conversation either, the thing I usually forget is the plug.
Dale, I think you did it on purpose just for laughs. lo ;D
