Anyone having issues with their Merc ProXS V-8?   Does anyone know if this motor stores its codes? ie, stores its problem-codes like your car or pickup truck?

Here's the story;  20 hours on this new ProXS V-8 ....LOVE the motor....BUT, lately, on occasions (becoming more and more frequent)  I will get a long "Beep".....a warning Beep.  You know......normally when you turn the key on you'll get the normal short "Beep" before you crank the motor to start.  This LONG beep is followed by (when you start it)  no throttle response in N, F, or R.  If fact, at times, with it in the forward gear, you can't get it out of the forward gear.  In other words not only do I have no throttle, putting it into neutral it will stay in the forward gear.  I need to go to "R" then back to "N" to get it out of the forward gear.
My dealer says he doesn't know if that motor stores its codes or not. He said he'd check with Mercury.... I would think the dealer should know these things!!!!!

This problem is so intermittent I'm a little reluctant to just leave it with the dealer until they hear back from Mercury with a possible solution.
The dealer DID say however the new Proxs had a recall on the shifter (sounds familiar??) BUT, he said my serial number did not fall into that recall.

I assume since its brand new, it's under warranty. I'd let them run codes.

Never assume dealers know anything about the products they sell. Professionalism is rare these days.

I would be blown away if that motor's computer did store error codes and data about alarms.

Talk to your dealer's mechanic.

Thanks guys.
My exact sediments as well.
I find it hard to believe something as advanced as (everything done by wire) this motor wouldn't store its codes.  What's more puzzling is this service manager (unless he's new) didn't know!!!   This particular dealership has been sponsoring and rigging several FLW boats for a good number of years.

I would also think that Mercury would jump on this like  a bass on a frog seeing they dropped the Opti and totally hung their hat on this new four banger.  The last thing they need is issues with it.

All things aside however, it IS one heck of a motor!!!
If you haven't driven one.....don't!!!   You'll want one.
