On a fiberglass bass boat. How effective are the consoles?

I don't know if being fiberglass makes a difference but I can tell you my small console makes a huge difference if its cold or raining and you are trying to move with any speed.

They are a major difference on cold and/or wet days. That is why I bought my new boat with two consoles.

Steve, thej good new is that many boat builders design their boats so the second console is easily removed  and can be stored away if not needed all the time.  Often it is simply an item on the options list.  It is best to buy the second console installed at the the time of placing the original order.

Yes that is the plan. Two upgrades, port console and larger fishfinder. That will raise the price by $2500

I'll never own another bass boat without it being dual console.  Just what Steve and the others have mentioned.  Yep they cost more but that extra cost is well worth it IMO

Dual console rock during cold weather, my partner isn't laying on the floor during long runs before the sun gets high enough to warm up some. On an even better note Mama likes it better while running down the river. She use to complain about the speed. She doesn't fish but she likes to lay out on the back while I do. Guess who gets a ton more fishing time now...

I think it all depends on how big the boat is, how often you will have someone in the boat with you and who the passenger(s) will be.

I have an 18 foot boat with single console. I have also fished out of 18 foot boats with dual consoles, and my boat "feels" so much bigger due to the less console.

I fish alone most of the time, but I do have buddies that fish with me occasionally, even in the middle of winter. If they dress properly we still feel it is better to have the more deck space.

So I would say having the option to add/remove the passenger console is a must.

Like everything in this world there are pros & cons and plus and minus.
SOOOOOO right on, cold/wet, spring & fall, lady on board, hard to beat a second console.  But, a LOT more room with a signal console.
I have a Phoenix, 5 seconds to remove the passenger's console, and roughly 10 to 15 seconds to put it back.  Seconds!!! not minutes.  And it's tight, great fit.   It's a snap!!

Nutt

I have a Nitro Z-7 with the removable passenger console.  I will say about the only time the passenger console is mounted in the boat is for cold weather so if I have a passenger they don't freeze during the ride.
Personally, I like fishing without it because like Bassinkorea said, theres more room and it makes the boat feel bigger.

I have the removable passenger side on my Triton as well.. It's easier to net fish in team events with it removed but it does come in handy on those chilly mornings .  My wife also likes the grab handle and glove box.

IMO the Boat Length makes all the difference.

I would not have a 2nd Console on a 18-19 ft boat. Takes up to much room. 20+ yes all the way.

That's a sharp looking boat.

I opted for the port console when I bought my PT 190.  I like having it and would opt for it again.

My boat is dual console for one reason.  My fishing partner is my wife and she like to have a console to keep out of the wind and to have a place to put her stuff.  Currently she has three hats in there, two types of sun block.  She can put her lipstick in there when we are out fishing  (don't ask you know why) and I carry the boat registration in the console.

For sure a dual console brings a better price during resale but the removable console of today's modern boat makes the decision easy.  My almost 30 year old ranger you either have a dual console or you don't.  Removable consoles were not even a thought back in the day.

Oldfart9999

Take a ride in the passenger seat at 50 or 60 mph without a console with temps about 50 and it's raining.
