New decade new season. Water still a cold 49 degrees. That's the clue to find the warmest water. Rocks and concrete warmed it up, and that's where the crawfish stay.

This fat gal started the season when she nailed a crawfish crankbait. Hard to Express how fat she was, almost looked full of eggs.

I thought it was a largemouth when I caught it but now I think it was a "meanmouth", cross between a spot or largemouth with a smallmouth. I caught one before but still have not caught a smallmouth. I'm just glad I didn't get skunked on the first outing.

Congrats on the catch.
Thanks! Where do you fish Steve. I had a free week deer hunt in Del Rio and was so dumb then I didn't know what was next door. I could have stayed another week and fished!

I fish in North East Texas completely the opposite side of Texas from Del Rio. Its 520 miles to Del Rio from my place.  lo If I am off work I sure do like to go. Would gladly take ya along if my work allowed it. I just cant predict even a day out in my profession. No vacation or sick leave either.  ~rant
