Another great day on the river even though I lost the biggest bass I've had on in years, well over 6, just as my buddy was about to grab her. Launched at 7,  back on the trailer at 3:30, from Paige Bayou Marina, idled up the bayou and picked John up at his dock to take him out for a few hours, still recovering from getting rear ended 3 weeks ago that put him in ICU for a day. Hate to say it but I showed no mercy putting 15 or more good keeper fish plus a 4 pound red fish in the boat to his 5 but he's done it to me more times than I can count in the 40+ years we have fished together. Couple on a Jack hammer but most came on 3 different spinner baits with the Booyah Convert catching the most. Texas rigged UV speed worm and green pumpkin lizard caught fish as well mainly where the grass was to thick for the spinner bait. All fish were on the inside of the grass line or in the grass in 2-3' of water and we caught them at every place we fished. Cloudy skies all day with a few light showers, south winds 10-15 and tide was just out of the marsh early but rose all day, river stage was 21.2 at Merrill which just below 22' flood stage and falling, visibility was 1-2' most areas but a few spots were sightly better. Air temps 60-72 and water 66-68 degrees. It will end soon but it's been a great few weeks for my spinner bait.
Retired and loving every minute of it!
