Fury spinning rod - medium size jerkbaits

HI All - brand new the forum.  From the post I've read it's look like there a bunch of knowledgeable and helpful guys on this board!

I'm looking to purchase my first Dobyns rod and the Fury series is in my price range.  I'm looking for a spinning rod to fish for pre-spawn smallies.  I typically throw 15# braid with a fluerocarbon leader.  My go to jerkbaits are the LC Pointer 78, Rapala X-Rap (size 10), and sometime times a LC Staysee or Pointer 100 if they start feeding heavey.  I'm looking to add the MBass Vision 110 to my arsenal this year.

I'm currently fishing a medium action rod in 6'6" lengtj with a fast action, and I'm looking for a bit of longer rod to increase my casting distance.  Also, maybe a rod with a bit more give in the mid section to keep them pinned.

Given the above, what would you folks recommend?  The 702 or 703?  Anyone of first hand experience using either one of these rods with applications similar to mine.

I use the Sierra 703 which is the series right after the Fury. Based on the techniques you mentioned. The 703 will serve you well IMHO.

I have both the Fury 702SF (spinning) and Fury 703 (casting). The Fury series are great rods but stiff for their actions. The 702 is more of a lighter dropshot action, and the 703 is a stiffer version of the same, basically a jig and worm rod. The Sierra Series mentioned above is probably more inline with what you want as it has a more moderate action for keeping treble hooks pinned. That said, Dobyn’s makes a specific jerkbait action in the 610-4 which is exactly what I’d recommend for you. The Kaden Series 610-4 is about $40-$50 more than the Fury 703 and the same price as a Sierra Series 703, but I expect you’ll like it better for your application. If you have a few more bucks you could get the Champion XP version of the 610-4, but with moving baits you will be served well enough with the Kaden, as you get A LOT for your money with those rods.

Skidemn... Tx for the feedback.  Unless, I'm missing something, I believe the Kaden 610-4 you mentioned is a casting rod.. Im looking for a spinning rod.  I will definitely look into the sierra line as u suggested for the more medium action.. Trying now to find a retailer so I can get my hands on these rods.

You are correct on the Kaden 610-4C being a casting rod.

Since you are looking for a spinning rod I agree with Lou on the 703 SF.

If you can work a little extra into your budget I would recommend the Sierra 703 SF. The Sierras have a slightly softer action than the Fury and work really well for keeping fish pinned on lures with trebles.

Welcome!!!  I agree with the F703SF as the best fit.  The right balance of tip and power.  If you fish wacky worms you’ll find this model is really good. Keep us posted!
