Just wrapped up the ICAST Cup, which is a fishing industry related bass tournament in coordination with the ICAST trade show in Orlando. As a member of the media, I was matched up with a boat captain. My captain was a regional pro from Wisconsin. He had prefished the area for about a week so I had high hopes.

After the invocation and national anthem, we blasted off. We stopped at an area with heavy hydrilla and pads on the north end of the lake. Nothing was going on shallow so I bombed a cast with a Zara Spook to open water. Boom! A nice 3 pounder choked it. After a short period, I caught another 3 and a 2 on the spook. I switched to a speed worm and caught 2 more on the open water flat. We experienced motor problems so we had to put the trolling motor on high to get back to the weigh in. I caught 1 more on the speed worm before we called it a day. We checked in early so that Tim could take care of his motor issue.

We had a 3 fish limit for 8-04, good enough for 17th place out of 45 teams. Winning weight was 17 lbs for 3 fish. Fun time and glad we salvaged the day and caught a few fish.

With the exception of the motor issue it sounds like a good time. Congrats on the catches.
