Fishing Time: 0630-12pm
Water Temps: 90
Outside Temps: 85 and climbing by 0630
Wind: none existent
Clouds: None

Fished the Holey lands system today. Launched at 0630, and my immediate goal was to find moving water. Tried a couple of top water lures right off the bat. The popper and jerk bait have been working for me as of late, but not today.  lo

I switched gears and started throwing heavier T-rigs and C-Rigs. That change was the ticket. I started catching bass deep. They weren't big bass by any stretch of the imagination. But considering the conditions, I was having a ball.

As the morning progressed, so did the heat and humidity.  ~sweat  ~sweat  I jumped on the big motor and took a 10 min run to cool off some. Continued fishing deep and breaking down the moving water, when I noticed nice peacock in the area. The peas would dart from the shallows in to the depths.

I switched gears again. Rigged a fluke, and began to break down shallow cover. To my surprise, the bigger peas responded in kind, with massive blow ups. Problem was however, I was unsuccessful hooking into these guys. Out of the 5 nice blow ups, I only succeeded with hooking one peacock.

By the time 12 pm rolled around I was toast. I didn't want to push it any further and called the trip. All in all I did ok. Landed 15 bass and 1 peacock. I'll take it!!  lo  lo

The bites were either deep, fishing with soft plastics or really tight to cover shallow.

Thanks for reading.

Nice job Lou. I fished too and had to wrap it up at 1100 because the wind died, and it was brutally hot.

Good job Lou.  Not many reports these days.

Thanks, guys. This heat wave, along with the water levels, is making the fishing challenging for many.
