Got out today for a few hours and had a decent start to the day before the bite stopped for me. In the water at 7:45 and out at 1:45, water rose all day with a combination of rising tide, rising river and south winds at 10 mph, water temps 62-64, air temps 50-73, water visibility averaged about 1 foot, little more in places and other a little less, with mostly cloudy skies. River stage is 22.5 which is just over flood stage at Merrill and its starting to show up in the lower river now. Put 5 keepers and several shorts in the boat in the first 2.5 hours, 3 on my Snagless Sally, 1 on the Booyah Covert spinner, and the big fish of the day, 3.2 pounds, came on a chatterbait. After about 10:30 it was mostly casting practice. Only day I'll get to go this week and next week is iffy with 3 days of Dr. appointments between my wife and myself and the following week will be spent on the Alabama River at Millers Ferry with my buddy John for our annual spring trip to that area.
Retired and loving every minute of it!
