last Saturday.  Tennessee River

just gotta put up with heavy sweatin' and wonderfully HOT and HUMID summer conditions.

bass are still biting.  found them on a main river bend (outside) that had a combination of weeds and shell and timber.

they were deep (10-15 feet).  slow to bite.  but did manage a few (10 or 12; mix of largemouths and some spots).  no large fish, but enjoyed every one.

biggest fish of the day was not green.  just shy of 8 pounds.  (love these flatheads; just tremendous animals!)

yes, that is a palomar knot.  tied onto a 3/0 heavy guage VMC EWG.  and a berkely maxscent magnum hitworm

CF, tks for sharing the trip and that picture with us.  Congrats on a Successful outing in the HEAT  ~sweat  ~shade

Flatheads are my favorite Catfish to eat when we catch one.  Of course you got to have some Hush Puppies, Coleslaw, Fried Potatoes and a big glass of Sweet Tea to go along with them  :food  ;)

I always 'think' about putting the knife to the flathead... just can't do it.  they are way too cool.

I love catching flathead this time of year, and while they are delicious, I also have a hard time cleaning them, especially big ones (over 40-45 pounds). They're so OLD and so COOL. Kinda, well, Old S'cool...
