A good friend of mine mentioned that maybe a kit put together with jig heads, blades, rings and snaps along with skirts and trailers in order to build custom VibraShock SwimBlades might be an item that people would be interested in. You would be able to build your own lures for less than buying them assembled and you could mix and match colors to make your own personalized baits. Kits would be available in 3 differant options, Clear water kit, Stained water kit and Dark water kit. I thought I would post this here to get some feedback on if this sounded like it might be an option to some folks. Any feedback would be welcome and appreciated.
Thanks,

It was actually Fogy's idea, so I can't take all the credit, or any for that matter  lo

that would be a great idea ~c~how many would you be able to make out of each kit?

NitroPopPop

GotstaFish, I think that would work great. I would by at least two of them, One Clear and one Stained.   ~c~  :-*

I haven't decided on the number you could make. I might have 2 sizes like a kit of 5 and a kit with 10. Each kit would have enough terminal tackle to build 5 or 10 lures and I would include double that amount in trailers.

I'm going to crunch some numbers together tonight after work and get an idea on pricing. One more question. Most kits come in tackle boxes like a cheap version of the Plano boxes. Is this important to you? I know that I myself usually chuck these to the side and only use them for storing nuts and bolts or toss them in the trash all together. These would add cost to the kit. If I bagged the differant items in their own seperate bags and just shipped them in "bulk" style, this would keep the cost down for me and also for the purchaser. Whats your take on this?

Karl, I used to sell fly & jig kits like that, with the small Plano boxes. It's fine for finished flies or lures that are sold together as a kit, but for what you're planning, it's not necessary. I think most folks who would buy a "make your own kit" would not want the added expense of a box. At least I wouldn't.  ;)

I would not want the kit in a small box either. With my tackle system it would be strewn about between a couple of tackle boxes, my front deck, and under the console in no time anyway.   :bang

Kal-Kevin

I would say scrap the box and save time and trouble for you and us! I like the idea to, this would give me the final say on how it is set up.

PiscMonkey

I like the idea as well count me in Gotstafish!  :)

AJ

Well it sounds like the everyone is hip to the idea. I'm going to do some figuring and post back when I have more of an idea on cost to see what you people think would be fair. If I can save time to get more fishing and hunting in and you all can save some coin I think this will be a good deal for all.  :)

I also think that would be a great idea.  I would probably by two as well on eclear water and one stained water.

OK, after figuring all my costs I'm thinking like doing it for around $15.95 for a 5 pack kit with 10 trailers or a 10 pack kit with 20 trailers for $29.95. Now these are just figures so don't start placing orders yet  lo And this would be for UB members only... It basically breaks down to $2.90 per lure plus extra trailers. Does this still seem resonable?

That price sounds good to me. I had a chance to use the one I won from you and I love it. It has great action. Do you think you will have the kits ready for Christmas? If not let me know when you are ready to sell those kits I am ready to order.

I'm going to try and have them available this week. I figured they would make awesome Christmas gifts  ;)

I love the idea! Let us know when they are available  ;D

My bait is bigger than your bass!

GotstaFish

OK, I've got it. I'm going to run a Christmas special for $29.95 plus S&H $5.05 (my cost) I'm going to start a new thread and ask for input on what you would like to see in this kit. This kit will make 10 VibraShock SwimBlades plus 10 extra trailers. After the special is over, it will still be available for $39.95 plus S&H. Either way it is a deal. The special will get you a lure for less than $3 and regular price is still less than $4 apiece.  :)

GotstaFish, do you take paypal? Just wondering for when you get them ready to go. Haven't decided yet, but will probably order when ready.

GotstaFish

Yes! PayPal is my prefered payment method, plus if you use PayPal your order will ship within 2 business days  :)
