Went to BPS yesterday so my father-in-law could spend some of his Christmas gift cards. As we were strolling around I saw they had a Z9 sitting in there. I walked over to check it out and met Penny Berryman! She proceeded to tell me all about this boat and it's features including the new "Fusion" process of laying the hull. Very nice lady and easy to talk to ~c~!

Back to the boat. Nitro has put some neat innovations in this boat from storage to safety. It was colored the same as in the catalog with the new 250 Pro XS Opti on the back and a 10" jack-plate.
*The new safety ladder is a neat design, it justs lays on the back of the boat and is held up with a stiff rubber stopper, just fold it down and climb into the boat! I like the design. Triton has to be given credit for coming up with the initial idea, but I think every manufacturer needs this on their boats. Funny though, I only saw this on the Z9, not every new Nitro. I'd hate to think Nitro is only going to put this on their most expensive boat!
*They have put storage areas in every nook and cranny, more than anyone would ever need IMHO.
*The new "fusion" process is supposed to save over 250lbs in glass and be a lot stronger than just hand laying. She described it as using a vacuum method to remove any air trapped in the glass, thus making it lighter and stronger. I guess time will tell. But you could easily overcome the weight savings by filling up all that storage lo!
*They also had the spare slung under the trailer on the starboard side just in front of the wheels, looked to give the trailer more ground clearance under the bow.

Now the kicker, it had a $51K+ sticker on it! I guess they're wanting to compete with the Ranger folks at that price!

Kudos to Penny Berryman, she was 1st class ~c~!

Thanks for the up date Bassbuff, I think this boat and the way it's built will start a new trend in the industry! ~c~

Thanks for the report on the new Z9.  That's one pricey boat - what does that work out to - $500 a month on the payment?  An old Swedish/Minnesotan expression - OOFTA!!

I thought our BPS was getting one but I haven't seen it yet.  I guess they had one at the boat show, but I didn't go to it.  Like anything, I'd wait a year and see what kinks they have to work out.  I know they are expecting big things from this boat as the Cadillac of their line, and the photos I've seen look good.  If it's one thing I've heard about Nitros is that they tend to be heavy boats.  I guess they listened to their pro staff on this boat and dropped 300 #'s.

A quick update on the Z-9!! I was to say the least greatly disappointed when I went to BPS to see this boat. From a distance this is a beautiful boat!
when I started to check out the interior and thats when it when down hill. The doors if you can get it open don't fit when you try to close them. they skimped on the hinges and only put them at the ends and middle instead of all the way. The point is all the doors bind up really bad!
The front deck is not much larger then the 901 and for the price i would take the 901. there is no storage under the seats! just a big empty spot the width of the boat thats not being used. I have to say, the only good thing about this boat is the fusion fab. that makes it lighter.
But with that you can get the 929 or the 911 with fusion fabricating. I would go with the 929 and get the fusion fab. it will still be cheaper than the Z-9 and it's a well built boat! so, I am eating my words. Don't waste your money.

I was more impressed with Penny Berryman than the Z9 ;D! But I'm not a huge Nitro fan either. Just thought y'all would like to know about the boat :)!

I was at BPS this last weekend and found out that the Z-9 (all of them) have been recalled for de-lamination of the hull. Just a newer update.
